2. Components and Controls

The Amble Stopwatch features a clear digital display and three primary control buttons for navigation and operation.

  • MODE Button: Located at the bottom right. Used to switch between different operating modes (Stopwatch, Lap/Split, Countdown, Tally Counter, Clock/Calendar/Alarm).
  • LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN Button: Located at the top left. Functions include recording lap/split times, resetting timers, and decreasing values during settings.

3. Initial Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The Amble Stopwatch requires one LR44 battery, which is typically included.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the stopwatch.
  2. Carefully open the compartment cover using a small screwdriver if necessary.
  3. Insert the LR44 battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: A fresh LR44 battery typically provides approximately two years of operation.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Mode Selection

Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the available operating modes:

  • Stopwatch Mode
  • Lap/Split Time Mode
  • Countdown Timer Mode
  • Tally Counter Mode
  • Clock/Calendar/Alarm Mode

4.2 Stopwatch Mode

  1. Ensure the stopwatch is in Stopwatch Mode (indicated on the display).
  2. Press START/STOP UP to begin timing.
  3. Press START/STOP UP again to pause the timer.
  4. Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to reset the timer to zero while paused.

The stopwatch can record up to 10 hours with an accuracy of 1/100 seconds.

4.3 Lap/Split Time Mode

This mode allows recording of intermediate (lap) and cumulative (split) times.

  1. In Stopwatch Mode, press START/STOP UP to begin timing.
  2. Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to record a lap time. The display will momentarily show the lap time while the main timer continues running.
  3. Repeat step 2 for subsequent laps.
  4. Press START/STOP UP to stop the main timer.
  5. To recall recorded lap/split times, press the RECALL button. Use LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN and START/STOP UP to navigate through the 20 stored memories.
  6. Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to clear memories after stopping the timer.

4.4 Countdown Timer Mode

  1. Navigate to Countdown Timer Mode using the MODE button.
  2. Press and hold LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN or START/STOP UP to enter setting mode.
  3. Use LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN and START/STOP UP to adjust the desired countdown time.
  4. Press MODE to confirm each segment (hours, minutes, seconds).
  5. Press START/STOP UP to begin the countdown.
  6. Press START/STOP UP again to pause/resume.
  7. Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to reset the countdown.

4.5 Tally Counter Mode

The stopwatch can function as an electronic tally counter.

  1. Navigate to Tally Counter Mode using the MODE button.
  2. Press START/STOP UP to increment the count (from 0 to 9999).
  3. Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to decrement the count (from 9999 to 0).
  4. To reset the counter, press and hold LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN.

4.6 Clock, Calendar, and Alarm Mode

This mode displays the current time and date and allows for setting an alarm.

  1. Navigate to Clock Mode using the MODE button.
  2. To set the time and date:
    • Press and hold LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to enter setting mode.
    • Use START/STOP UP to adjust the flashing digit/segment.
    • Press MODE to move to the next segment (seconds, minutes, hours, day, month, year).
    • Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to exit setting mode.
  3. To set the alarm:
    • In Clock Mode, press RECALL to view the alarm time.
    • Press and hold LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to enter alarm setting mode.
    • Use START/STOP UP to adjust the alarm hours and minutes.
    • Press MODE to toggle the alarm ON/OFF.
    • Press LAP/SPLIT RESET/DOWN to exit alarm setting mode.

5. Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the stopwatch with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the stopwatch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace the LR44 battery when the display becomes dim or functions become erratic. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
  • Water Resistance: This device is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Display is blank or dim:

    Check the battery. Replace with a new LR44 battery if necessary.

  • Buttons are unresponsive:

    Ensure the stopwatch is not in a locked state (if applicable, though not a stated feature). Try removing and reinserting the battery to perform a soft reset.

  • Incorrect time or date:

  • Undesirable button beeps:
