5. Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to set up your HDMI Audio Extractor:
- Power Off Devices: Ensure all devices (HDMI source, display, audio receiver) are powered off before making connections.
- Connect HDMI Source: Connect an HDMI cable from your source device (e.g., Blu-ray player, media streamer) to the HDMI In port on the extractor.
- Connect HDMI Display: Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI Out port on the extractor to your display device (e.g., TV, projector).
- Connect Audio Output:
- For digital audio, connect a Toslink optical cable from the Optical port on the extractor to your audio receiver or soundbar.
- For analog stereo audio, connect an RCA L/R cable (or a 3.5mm jack to RCA cable) from the L/R port on the extractor to your audio receiver or speakers.
- Connect Power: Connect the included 5V DC power adapter to the 5V/DC port on the extractor, then plug the adapter into a power outlet. The Power LED should illuminate.
- Power On Devices: Power on your display, audio receiver, and then your HDMI source device.
6. Operating Instructions
Audio Output Mode Selection
The device offers three audio output options, selectable via the LPCM/Bitstream switch:
- TV Mode: In this mode, the audio format is determined by the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) of the connected display. The extractor will attempt to output the audio format supported by your TV.
- Bitstream Mode: This mode outputs the raw digital audio bitstream (e.g., Dolby Digital, DTS) via the Optical (Toslink) port. The L/R analog output will typically be stereo PCM. This is ideal if your audio receiver can decode these formats.
- LPCM 2CH Mode: This mode forces the audio output to 2-channel Linear Pulse Code Modulation (LPCM) stereo. Both the Optical (Toslink) and L/R analog outputs will provide 2-channel stereo audio. This is suitable for receivers that do not support advanced digital audio formats or when only stereo is desired.
Adjust the switch according to your audio receiver's capabilities and your preferred audio setup.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Picture:
- Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected.
- Verify the power adapter is connected and the Power LED is on.
- Try connecting the HDMI source directly to the display to confirm the source and display are working.
- Test with different HDMI cables.
- No Audio:
- Check audio cable connections (Toslink, RCA L/R).
- Ensure your audio receiver/soundbar is set to the correct input.
- Adjust the LPCM/Bitstream switch on the extractor. Try 'LPCM 2CH' mode first to ensure basic stereo output.
- Verify your audio receiver supports the selected audio format (e.g., Bitstream for Dolby/DTS).
- Check the volume levels on your audio receiver and source device.
- Intermittent Signal:
- Ensure all cables are high-quality and not excessively long, especially for 4K signals.
- Check for loose connections.
- Try restarting all connected devices.
