Please read these instructions carefully to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your timepiece. This watch is a precision instrument, and understanding its functions will enhance your ownership experience.

Setup

Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Upon receiving your Breitling Navitimer Super 8 B20, carefully remove it from its packaging. Inspect the watch for any visible damage. The watch is presented in a dedicated box designed to protect it during transport and storage.

Initial Winding and Time Setting

  1. Unscrew the Crown: The watch features a screw-locked crown. To access the winding and setting functions, gently unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it springs free from the case.
  2. Manual Winding: In position 1 (crown unscrewed and pushed in), turn the crown clockwise approximately 40 times. This will provide sufficient power reserve to start the automatic movement.
  3. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to position 2. Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure the AM/PM indication is correct if your watch has a date function (the date changes around midnight).
  4. Securing the Crown: Once the time is set, push the crown back into position 1 and screw it clockwise firmly against the case. This ensures the watch's water resistance.

Operating

Automatic Movement

Your Breitling Navitimer Super 8 B20 is equipped with an automatic mechanical movement. This means the watch is powered by the motion of your wrist. When worn regularly, the movement of your arm will keep the watch wound. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop. In such cases, follow the initial winding procedure described in the 'Setup' section.

Water Resistance

This watch has a water resistance rating of 30 meters (3 ATM). This rating means the watch is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before any contact with water to maintain its water resistance.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your watch, use a soft, damp cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. Allow the strap to air dry if it becomes damp. Do not use solvents, detergents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish and strap.

Regular Servicing

For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended to have your Breitling watch serviced by an authorized Breitling service center every 3-5 years. Regular servicing includes cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment of the movement, as well as checking the water resistance seals.

Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in its original presentation box or a dedicated watch case to protect it from dust, moisture, and accidental impacts. Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures, strong magnetic fields, or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch has stopped: If the watch has stopped, it likely needs to be wound. Manually wind the watch by unscrewing the crown and turning it clockwise approximately 40 times. If the issue persists after winding and wearing, contact an authorized service center.
  • Time is inaccurate: Minor deviations in timekeeping are normal for mechanical watches. However, if the watch is consistently gaining or losing significant time, it may require adjustment by an authorized service center. Ensure the crown is fully screwed down.
  • Condensation under crystal: If you notice condensation inside the watch, this indicates a loss of water resistance. Immediately take the watch to an authorized service center to prevent further damage to the movement.
