To operate your GASLAND GH30BF cooktop:

  • Adjusting Flame: Once ignited, release the knob. You can then adjust the flame size by turning the knob between the 'High' and 'Low' settings.
  • Burner Types: The larger burner is a 9,500 BTU wok burner (triple ring) suitable for high-heat cooking. The smaller burner is a 5,000 BTU semi-rapid burner for general cooking and simmering.
  • Shutting Off: Turn the control knob clockwise to the 'OFF' position. Ensure the flame is extinguished.
  • Thermocouple Protection: If the flame accidentally goes out (e.g., due to a draft or boil-over), the thermocouple will detect the absence of flame and automatically shut off the gas supply to that burner, enhancing safety.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your cooktop.

  • Tempered Glass Surface: Allow the cooktop to cool completely before cleaning. Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild detergent and warm water. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive glass cleaner can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals that can scratch or damage the glass.
  • Cast Iron Grates: The heavy cast iron grates can be removed for cleaning. Wash them with warm, soapy water. For baked-on food, soak them before scrubbing. Ensure they are completely dry before placing them back on the cooktop to prevent rust.
  • Burner Caps and Heads: Remove the burner caps and heads when cool. Clean them with warm, soapy water and a soft brush. Ensure the burner ports are not clogged. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reassembling. Incorrect reassembly can lead to improper flame.
  • Control Knobs: The bakelite knobs can be pulled off for cleaning. Wipe them with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not immerse them in water.
