1. Important Safety Instructions

2. Product Components and Controls

Familiarize yourself with the various parts and controls of your Roadstar HIF-1993 D+BT music system.

2.1 Front Panel Controls

  • Power Button: Turns the unit on or off.
  • Function/Record Button: Selects input source (Phono, CD, DAB+, FM, Bluetooth, USB, Cassette) and initiates recording.

2.2 Top Panel (Turntable)

  • Turntable Platter: Where vinyl records are placed.
  • Tonearm: Holds the stylus (needle) for playing records.
  • Speed Selector: Switch for 33, 45, or 78 RPM.
  • Auto-Stop Switch: Engages or disengages the auto-stop function for the turntable.

2.3 Side Panel (Cassette Player)

  • Cassette Slot: For inserting audio cassettes.
  • Cassette Control Buttons: Play, Stop/Eject, Fast Forward, Rewind.

2.4 Rear Panel Connections

3. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Roadstar HIF-1993 D+BT music system.

3.1 Unpacking and Placement

  1. Carefully remove the unit from its packaging.
  2. Place the unit on a stable, level surface, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or moisture.
  3. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.

3.2 Power Connection

  1. Connect the AC power cord to the AC power input on the rear of the unit.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard wall outlet (AC 230V~50Hz).

3.3 Antenna Connection

  1. For optimal FM radio reception, extend the FM antenna located at the rear of the unit.
  2. Adjust the antenna position for the best signal quality.

3.4 Initial Power On

  1. Press the Power button on the front panel to turn on the unit.
  2. The display will illuminate, indicating the unit is operational.

4. Operating Instructions

This section details how to use the various functions of your music system.

4.1 Selecting a Function

Press the Function/Record button repeatedly to cycle through the available input sources: Phono (Turntable), CD, DAB+, FM, Bluetooth, USB, Cassette.

4.2 Turntable Operation (Phono)

  1. Lift the dust cover.
  2. Place a vinyl record on the turntable platter.
  3. Select the appropriate speed (33, 45, or 78 RPM) using the speed selector switch.
  4. Move the tonearm to the desired position on the record. The turntable will start automatically.
  5. To stop playback, return the tonearm to its rest. The auto-stop function will stop the platter when the record finishes. Ensure the auto-stop switch is engaged if you desire this feature.

4.3 CD Player Operation

  1. Press the Function/Record button to select CD mode.
  2. Insert a CD into the CD tray with the label side facing up. The tray will automatically pull the disc in.
  3. The unit will read the disc, and playback should begin automatically. If not, press the Play/Pause button.
  4. Use the Skip Forward/Backward buttons to navigate between tracks.
  5. Press Stop to end playback.

4.4 DAB+ / FM Radio Operation

  1. Press the Function/Record button to select DAB+ or FM mode.
  2. For DAB+ radio, the unit will automatically scan for available stations upon first use. For FM, use the tuning knob or Scan button to find stations.
  3. Press the Preset button to save or recall favorite stations.

4.5 Bluetooth Operation

  1. Press the Function/Record button to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "Bluetooth" or a similar indicator, and the unit will enter pairing mode.
  2. On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for "HIF-1993 D+BT" or a similar device name.
  3. Select the unit to pair. Once connected, you can stream audio from your device to the music system.

4.6 Cassette Player Operation

  1. Press the Function/Record button to select Cassette mode.
  2. Insert a cassette into the cassette slot.
  3. Use the cassette control buttons (Play, Stop/Eject, Fast Forward, Rewind) to operate the cassette player.

4.7 USB Playback and Encoding

  1. USB Playback: Insert a USB drive into the USB port. Press the Function/Record button to select USB mode. The unit will automatically detect and play compatible audio files (e.g., MP3).
  2. Direct Encoding (Recording):
    • Insert a USB drive into the USB port.
    • Select the desired source for recording (Phono or Cassette) using the Function/Record button.
    • Start playback on the source (e.g., play a record or cassette).
    • Press the Record button (often integrated with the Function button or a separate button) to begin recording the audio to the USB drive.
    • Press Stop to end the recording. The recorded file will be saved on the USB drive.

5. Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your music system.

5.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the unit from the power outlet before cleaning.
  • Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • For the turntable stylus, use a specialized stylus cleaning brush and fluid, brushing gently from back to front.
  • Keep the dust cover closed when the turntable is not in use to prevent dust accumulation.

5.2 Stylus Replacement

The turntable stylus has a limited lifespan. If you notice a decrease in sound quality or skipping, the stylus may need replacement. Refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for compatible replacement styli and replacement procedures.

5.3 Cassette Head Cleaning

Regularly clean the cassette player's heads with a specialized cassette head cleaning kit to maintain sound quality and prevent tape damage.
