4.2 LED Indicators

5. Installation
5.1 Physical Installation
The WAVLINK ARIEAL HS3 - N300 is designed for outdoor installation, typically on a pole or wall. Ensure the chosen location provides optimal Wi-Fi coverage and is within reach of a power source (via PoE).

- Connect Ethernet: Connect the RJ45 cable to the WAN/LAN port at the bottom of the device.
- Secure the Connection: Screw the upper spiral cover onto the device, ensuring the rubber seal is properly seated to provide a waterproof connection. Then, screw the bottom spiral cover into place.
- Mount the Device: Use the provided mounting kit to securely attach the device to a pole or wall. Ensure it is mounted vertically with antennas pointing upwards for optimal signal.
- Grounding: Connect a grounding wire to the GND terminal on the device and ensure it is properly grounded to a suitable ground point.
5.2 Power over Ethernet (PoE) Connection
The device is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) through the RJ45 cable connected to the PoE adapter.
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable from the device to the PoE port on the PoE adapter.
- Connect another Ethernet cable from your router/modem or network switch to the LAN port on the PoE adapter.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
6. Operation Modes
The WAVLINK ARIEAL HS3 - N300 supports three primary operation modes:

- Wireless: Search for the default Wi-Fi network (SSID) broadcast by the device (e.g., "WAVLINK_N" or similar) and connect to it. The default password is usually found on a label on the device or in the Quick Installation Guide.
- Wired: Connect your computer directly to the LAN port of the PoE adapter using an Ethernet cable. Ensure your computer's Ethernet adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
- Open Web Browser: Launch a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
- Enter IP Address: In the address bar, type the default IP address of the device (e.g.,
192.168.10.1or192.168.1.1) and press Enter. Refer to the Quick Installation Guide for the exact default IP. - Login: Enter the default username and password (e.g.,
adminfor both). You will be prompted to change the password for security reasons.
7.2 Configuration Steps (General)
Once logged in, follow the on-screen wizard or navigate through the settings to configure your desired operation mode.
- Select Operation Mode: Choose between Repeater, Router, or AP mode based on your network requirements.
- Network Settings: Configure WAN settings (for Router mode), LAN IP address, and DHCP server settings.
- Wireless Settings: Set up your Wi-Fi network name (SSID), security type (WPA2-PSK recommended), and password.
- Save and Reboot: After making changes, save your settings and reboot the device if prompted.
8. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.

9. Troubleshooting

- No Power:

- Verify your computer's IP settings are set to obtain an IP address automatically.
- Ensure you are using the correct default IP address for the device.
- Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
- If you changed the device's IP address and forgot it, you may need to perform a factory reset.
- No Internet Connection:
- Check the WAN/LAN LED for activity.
- In Router mode, ensure your WAN settings (e.g., PPPoE, Dynamic IP, Static IP) are correctly configured.
- In Repeater mode, ensure the device is successfully connected to the upstream Wi-Fi network.
- Verify your main router/modem has an active internet connection.
- Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Poor Performance:
- Relocate the device to a more central position or higher elevation.
- Ensure antennas are properly oriented.
- Check for sources of interference (e.g., cordless phones, microwaves).
- Consider adjusting Wi-Fi channel settings in the web interface.
9.2 Factory Reset
If you forget your login password or encounter persistent issues, you can perform a factory reset to restore the device to its default settings.
- With the device powered on, use a paperclip or a thin object to press and hold the Reset button (located near the WAN/LAN port) for approximately 8 seconds.
- Release the button when the LEDs flash or the device reboots.
- The device will restart with factory default settings. You will need to reconfigure it.
