Setup
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Placement
Place the scale on a flat, stable, and level surface to ensure accurate readings. Avoid placing it on soft or uneven surfaces, or near strong electromagnetic fields.
Operating Instructions
Turning On/Off
- Press the ON/OFF button to turn the scale on.
- Wait for the display to show "0.0g" before weighing.
- Press and hold the ON/OFF button to turn the scale off. The scale will also automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Weighing Items
- Ensure the scale is on and displaying "0.0g".
- Gently place the item to be weighed onto the center of the weighing platform.
- Read the weight displayed on the LCD screen.
Changing Units
With the scale on, press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the available weighing units: grams (g), ounces (oz), troy ounces (ozt), and carats (ct).
Tare Function
The tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container or add ingredients incrementally.
- Place an empty container on the weighing platform.
- Press the TARE button. The display will reset to "0.0g".
- Add the item(s) to be weighed into the container. The display will show the net weight of the item(s).
Calibration
The Weighmax NJ800 scale is factory calibrated, but periodic calibration may be necessary to maintain accuracy, especially after significant temperature changes or prolonged use. You will need a precise calibration weight (e.g., 500g or 800g, not included) for this process.
- Turn the scale ON and wait for "0.0g" to appear.
- Press and hold the MODE button until "CAL" appears on the display.
- Release the MODE button. The display will then show the required calibration weight (e.g., "500.0g" or "800.0g").
- Place the exact calibration weight onto the center of the weighing platform.
- The display will show "PASS" and then return to normal weighing mode ("0.0g"). This indicates successful calibration.
- Remove the calibration weight.
Note: If "FAIL" appears, repeat the calibration process. Ensure the calibration weight is accurate and the scale is on a stable surface.
Maintenance and Care
- Clean the scale with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water.
- Store the scale in a clean, dry environment.
- Avoid exposing the scale to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Do not drop or subject the scale to strong shocks, as this can damage the internal components.
- Remove batteries if the scale will not be used for an extended period to prevent battery leakage.
