3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the scale from its packaging. Inspect the scale for any signs of damage. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
3.2 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the required batteries (typically 2 x AAA, not included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-) inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.3 Placement
Place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Avoid placing it on soft, uneven, or vibrating surfaces, as this can affect accuracy. Keep the scale away from strong electromagnetic fields, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
- To turn on the scale, press the ON/OFF button. The display will show "88888" and then "0.0g" (or the last used unit).
- To turn off the scale, press and hold the ON/OFF button for a few seconds until the display turns off. The scale will also automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
4.2 Unit Conversion
To change the weighing unit, press the MODE button repeatedly while the scale is on. The available units typically include grams (g), ounces (oz), carats (ct), and grains (gn). The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD.
4.3 Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container, so you only measure the net weight of its contents.
- Place an empty container on the weighing platform. The display will show the container's weight.
- Press the TARE button. The display will reset to "0.0g" (or the current unit).
- Add the items you wish to weigh into the container. The display will now show only the weight of the items.
- To clear the tare, remove all items from the platform and press the TARE button again, or turn the scale off and on.
4.4 Weighing Procedure
- Ensure the scale is on and displaying "0.0g".
- Gently place the item(s) to be weighed onto the center of the weighing platform.
- Wait for the display to stabilize. The stable weight will be shown.
- Remove the item(s) from the platform.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Clean the scale with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water. Avoid getting liquids inside the scale.
5.2 Storage
When not in use, store the scale in a clean, dry place at room temperature. Avoid storing it in areas with high humidity, extreme temperatures, or direct sunlight. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
5.3 Battery Replacement
When the display shows "Lo" or the readings become erratic, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 3.2.
