1. Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the SEIKO KX249B Radio Wave Analog Wall Clock. This clock features a natural wood frame and automatically corrects its time by receiving standard radio waves, ensuring precise timekeeping. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your clock.

2. Setup
2.1 Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the clock.
- Insert one (1) AA battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are aligned correctly according to the indicators inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2.2 Initial Time Setting and Radio Wave Reception
Upon battery installation, the clock will automatically attempt to receive radio waves to set the correct time. This process may take several minutes.
- Optimal Placement: For best reception, place the clock near a window where radio waves can be easily received.
- Avoid Interference: Keep the clock away from sources of strong electromagnetic interference, such as high-voltage lines, TV towers, train rails, and electronic appliances like TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, computers, and fax machines.
- Indoor Use Only: This clock is designed for indoor use.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Automatic Time Correction
The SEIKO KX249B clock is equipped with a radio wave correction function (40 kHz/60 kHz automatic selection). It will periodically receive time signals to ensure accuracy. If radio waves are not received, the clock will operate with standard quartz accuracy.
3.2 Sweep Second Hand and Sleep Function
- The clock features a smooth, continuous sweep second hand movement.
- It includes a sleep second hand function, which automatically stops the second hand in low light conditions (e.g., at night) to conserve battery life and reduce noise. The second hand will resume normal operation when sufficient light is detected.
3.3 Manual Reception / Reception Off Function
Refer to the markings on the back of the clock (Image 2.1) for specific buttons related to manual reception or disabling the radio wave reception function. This may be useful in areas with poor reception or if you prefer to set the time manually.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Battery Replacement
When the clock's movement becomes erratic or stops, it is time to replace the battery. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 2.1. Always use a fresh AA battery.
4.2 Cleaning
To clean the clock, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the wood frame or glass front.
5. Troubleshooting
- Clock not displaying correct time:
- Ensure the battery is correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Check the clock's location. Move it closer to a window or to an area with less interference.
- Allow sufficient time (up to 24 hours) for the clock to receive the radio signal, especially after initial setup or battery change.
- If in an area known for poor reception, consider manually setting the time if the clock has a reception off function.
- Poor or no radio wave reception:
- Locations to avoid: Inside buildings, basements, near high-pressure lines, TV towers, train rails, or close to other objects that generate radio wave noise (e.g., metal furniture, large electronic appliances).
- Reception may also be difficult in vehicles (automotive, train, airplane) or at construction sites and airports due to high traffic and radio interference.
- Second hand not moving:
- Check battery level and replace if needed.
- Verify if the sleep second hand function is active due to low light conditions. Move the clock to a brighter area.
