LiftMaster 2.5 Ton Low Profile Jack User Manual

Model: 600K

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your LiftMaster 2.5 Ton Low Profile Jack. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and retain it for future reference.

The Liftmaster Low Profile Floor Jack is designed to provide better access to vehicles with low ground clearance. It offers a lifting range from 3.15 inches to 14.5 inches, allowing it to fit under a clearance of 3.15 inches and be easily maneuvered into position. Constructed with heavy-duty steel, this jack ensures long-lasting durability. It features a unique bypass device to protect against over-pumping and a built-in safety valve for overload protection.

2. Safety Instructions

Always prioritize safety when operating the jack. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Read the Manual: Understand all operating procedures and warnings before use.
  • Use on Hard, Level Surface: Always operate the jack on a hard, level surface capable of supporting the load.
  • Use Jack Stands: After lifting the vehicle, always support it with appropriate jack stands before performing any work. Never rely solely on the jack for support.
  • Do Not Overload: Do not exceed the rated capacity of 2.5 tons (5,000 lbs).
  • Center the Load: Ensure the load is centered on the saddle of the jack.
  • Keep Clear: Keep hands, feet, and other body parts clear of moving parts and the area under the lifted load.
  • Inspect Before Use: Before each use, inspect the jack for any damage, leaks, or loose parts. Do not use if damaged.
  • Lower Slowly: Lower the load slowly and with control.
  • Wear Safety Gear: Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves.

3. Setup and Assembly

The LiftMaster 2.5 Ton Low Profile Jack typically requires minimal assembly. Follow these steps to prepare your jack for first use:

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts are present: the main jack body, the two-piece handle, and the saddle.
  2. Handle Assembly:
    • Insert the lower handle section into the handle socket on the jack body. Ensure it is fully seated.
    • Align the upper handle section with the lower handle section and secure them together. Some models may have a spring-loaded button or a screw to lock the sections.
  3. Purging Air (Bleeding): Before initial use, it is recommended to purge any air that may be trapped in the hydraulic system.
    • Turn the release valve (located at the base of the handle socket) counter-clockwise to open it.
    • Pump the handle fully up and down approximately 10-15 times.
    • Turn the release valve clockwise to close it. The jack should now operate smoothly.

4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your jack:

  1. Preparation:
    • Park the vehicle on a hard, level surface.
    • Engage the parking brake and block the wheels that will remain on the ground.
    • Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for recommended jacking points.
  2. Lifting the Vehicle:
    • Ensure the release valve is fully closed by turning the handle clockwise.
    • Position the jack's saddle directly under the vehicle's designated jacking point.
    • Pump the jack handle up and down to raise the vehicle to the desired height. Pump slowly and steadily.
    • Once the vehicle is lifted, immediately place appropriately rated jack stands under the vehicle's frame or designated support points.
    • Slowly lower the vehicle onto the jack stands by gently turning the release valve counter-clockwise. Ensure the vehicle is securely resting on the jack stands before proceeding.
  3. Lowering the Vehicle:
    • If the vehicle is on jack stands, slightly raise the vehicle with the jack to remove the jack stands.
    • Once the jack stands are removed, slowly turn the release valve counter-clockwise to lower the vehicle completely to the ground. Control the descent speed by adjusting how much you open the valve.
    • Remove the jack from under the vehicle.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your jack.

  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate all moving parts, including the pivot points and wheels, with light machine oil.
  • Hydraulic Fluid: Check the hydraulic fluid level every 6 months or after extensive use. To check, lower the jack completely, remove the oil filler plug, and ensure the fluid is level with the bottom of the filler hole. Use only high-quality hydraulic jack oil. Do not use brake fluid or motor oil.
  • Cleaning: Keep the jack clean and free of dirt, grease, and debris.
  • Storage: Store the jack in a dry, clean area with the ram fully retracted to prevent corrosion and extend seal life.
