Setup

1. Hardware Installation

2. Software Installation (DiskStation Manager - DSM)

1. Power On: Press the power button on the front panel.
2. Find the NAS: Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network and go to http://find.synology.com or use Synology Assistant.
3. Install DSM: Follow the on-screen instructions to install DiskStation Manager (DSM). This will format the drives and set up the operating system.
4. Create Administrator Account: Set up your administrator username and password.

Operating Instructions

Accessing DSM

Once DSM is installed, you can access the web-based interface by entering the NAS's IP address or hostname in your web browser. Log in with your administrator credentials.

Creating Storage Pools and Volumes

1. Navigate to Storage Manager in DSM.
2. Go to the Storage Pool section and click Create.

4. After creating the storage pool, go to the Volume section and click Create to create a new volume on the storage pool.

• Network Protocols: Access files via SMB/CIFS (Windows), AFP (macOS), NFS (Linux), FTP, or WebDAV.

Drive status LED indicates an error:

Access Storage Manager in DSM to check the specific drive status. A blinking orange LED often indicates a failing or degraded drive. Replace the drive as soon as possible.

Slow performance:
