4. Setup

Unpacking and Inspection:

  1. Carefully remove the band saw and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Inspect the tool for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Do not operate if damaged.
  3. Ensure all listed components are present: Portable Band Saw, 10/14 TPI metal-cutting blade.

Blade Installation:

The band saw comes with a blade pre-installed, but for replacement or re-installation:

  1. Ensure the tool is unplugged from the power source.
  2. Loosen the blade tensioning lever by rotating it counter-clockwise.
  3. Carefully remove the old blade, noting its path around the wheels and through the blade guides.
  4. Install the new 44-7/8 by 1/2 inch blade, ensuring the teeth are pointing in the correct cutting direction.
  5. Route the blade around both wheels and through the ball-bearing blade guides.
  6. Tighten the blade tensioning lever by rotating it clockwise until the blade is taut.

5. Operating Instructions

Before Operation:

  • Verify the blade is correctly installed and tensioned.
  • Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or held to prevent movement during cutting.
  • Set the variable speed dial to an appropriate speed for the material being cut. Slower speeds are generally for harder metals, faster for softer materials.

Making a Cut:

  1. Hold the band saw firmly with both hands, utilizing the main handle and the adjustable front handle.
  2. Align the blade with your desired cutting line.
  3. Press the trigger to start the saw. Allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the workpiece.
  4. Apply steady, even pressure to feed the blade through the material. Do not force the cut.
  5. Maintain a clear view of the cutting line, using the integrated LED work light if necessary.
  6. Once the cut is complete, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop completely before removing the saw from the workpiece.
