3. Setup

3.1 Connecting the Controller

The C40 TR Controller can be connected to your PlayStation 4 in two modes: wired or wireless.

3.2 Initial Software Configuration

For advanced customization and profile management, download the free ASTRO C40 TR software from the official ASTRO Gaming website. This software allows you to create and share custom controller profiles, adjust sensitivity, and remap buttons.

4. Operating the Controller

4.1 Swappable Analog Stick and D-Pad Modules

The C40 TR Controller features swappable analog stick and D-Pad modules, allowing you to customize the layout and feel of your controller. You can set up the controller in either offset or parallel configurations to match your preferred playstyle.

  1. Use the included screwdriver to remove the faceplate screws.
  2. Carefully lift the faceplate off.
  3. Remove the existing analog stick or D-Pad module by gently pulling it upwards.
  4. Insert the desired module into the slot, ensuring the red lines on the module align with the red lines inside the controller. Wiggle the module slightly to ensure it is fully seated and does not freely turn.
  5. Replace the faceplate and secure it with the screws. Ensure the faceplate sits completely flush with the top of the controller.

4.2 Remappable Rear Buttons

5. Maintenance

5.1 Module Calibration

After swapping or replacing any analog stick or D-Pad module, it is crucial to recalibrate the controller to prevent issues such as stick drift, unintended activations, or unresponsive modules. Follow these steps for proper calibration:

  1. Ensure the faceplate is securely attached and sitting flush with the controller.
  2. Press and hold the program button located on the back of the controller.
  3. Continue holding until the controller vibrates once.
  4. Release the program button.
  5. Do not touch the controller or any of its buttons for approximately 20-30 seconds.
  6. The controller will vibrate again, and the LED light will blink white twice, indicating that recalibration is complete.
