1. Introduction
Welcome to the Hasbro Gaming Monopoly Game of Thrones Board Game. This edition combines the classic Fast-Dealing Property Trading Game with the epic world of HBO's Game of Thrones. Players will travel the legendary lands of Westeros, buying, selling, and trading locations from the Seven Kingdoms. The objective is to acquire properties, collect rent, and bankrupt opponents to emerge as the last player with money.

3. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your game:
- Unfold the Gameboard: Place the gameboard on a flat surface.
- Place the Iron Throne: Position the Iron Throne card holder on its designated space on the gameboard. Ensure 2 AAA batteries are installed for the musical feature.
- Separate Cards: Shuffle the Title Deed cards and place them face down on their corresponding spaces on the board. Shuffle the Chance cards and place them face down on the "Chance" spaces.
- Distribute Money: Each player receives a starting amount of Gold Dragons and Silver Stags as specified in the Game Guide.
- Choose Tokens: Each player selects one of the 6 unique game tokens.
- Place Tokens: All players place their chosen token on the "GO" space.
- Prepare Holdfasts and Castles: Place the Holdfasts and Castles near the board, ready for purchase.
- Select Banker: One player is chosen to be the Banker. The Banker is responsible for all money, Holdfasts, and Castles not yet owned by players.
4. Operating Instructions (Gameplay)
The game is played by rolling the dice and moving your token around the board, buying properties, and collecting rent. The goal is to be the last player remaining with money.
4.1 Game Turn Sequence
- Roll the Dice: The player whose turn it is rolls both dice.
- Move Your Token: Move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated by the dice.
- Action on Space: Perform the action corresponding to the space your token landed on. This could include:
- Buying an unowned property.
- Paying rent to another player if you land on their owned property.
- Drawing a Chance card and following its instructions.
- Landing on "Go to Jail" and moving your token to the Jail space.
- Collecting salary when passing "GO".
- Landing on special spaces like "Iron Bank" or "Dragonstone" and following their rules.
- Doubles: If you roll doubles, take your turn as usual, then roll again. If you roll doubles three times in a row, you immediately go to Jail.
- End of Turn: Once your action is complete, the turn passes to the player on your left.
4.2 Property Ownership and Development
- Buying Properties: When you land on an unowned property, you may buy it for the price listed on the board. If you choose not to buy it, the Banker immediately auctions it to the highest bidder.
- Building Holdfasts and Castles: Once you own all properties in a color group, you can begin building Holdfasts. You must build evenly across the properties in the group. Once you have four Holdfasts on each property in a group, you can upgrade them to a Castle.
- Mortgaging Properties: If you need money, you can mortgage properties. Mortgaged properties do not collect rent.
4.3 Winning the Game
The game ends when all but one player has gone bankrupt. The remaining player is the winner and ruler of the Seven Kingdoms!
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal condition of your Monopoly Game of Thrones Board Game, please follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Storage: Always store the game in its original box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This prevents warping of the board and damage to components.
- Cleaning:
- Gameboard and Cards: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the printed surfaces.
- Plastic Components (Tokens, Holdfasts, Castles): Can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth if necessary, then dried immediately.
- Handling: Handle all game components with care. Avoid bending cards, tearing the board, or dropping the tokens.
- Battery Replacement: The Iron Throne card holder requires 2 x 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries. Replace batteries when the musical feature becomes faint or stops working. Ensure correct polarity when inserting new batteries. Remove batteries if the game will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
6. Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Musical Throne not playing. | Check if the 2 x 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries are correctly inserted or need replacement. Ensure the "Try Me!" button is fully pressed. |
| Missing game components. | Carefully check all packaging materials. If components are genuinely missing, contact Hasbro customer support (see Section 8). |
| Confusion about specific game rules. | Refer to the included Game Guide for detailed rules and clarifications. Online resources and official Hasbro FAQs may also provide additional support. |
| Gameboard does not lay perfectly flat. | This can sometimes occur with folded board games. Store the board flat under a heavy object for a period to help flatten it. Ensure it is stored in a cool, dry environment. |
