1. Product Overview
The Zerone Automatic Pump Control Pressure Switch Controller is designed to automate the operation of various water pumps. It replaces traditional pump control systems, offering functions such as automatic pump start/stop, water level monitoring, and dry-run protection. This controller is suitable for well pumps, jet pumps, garden pumps, clarified water pumps, and centrifugal pumps.

2. Key Features
- Automatic Operation: Starts and stops the pump automatically based on water demand.
- Dry-Run Protection: Automatically stops the pump in case of water shortage to prevent damage.
- Integrated Control: Replaces traditional pressure switches, pressure tanks, and check valves for a streamlined system.
- Efficient Power Handling: Supports 110V input, up to 1.1KW pump power, and a maximum current of 10A.
- High Pressure Capacity: Operates effectively up to 10 bar (1 MPa) pressure.
- Broad Compatibility: Works with self-priming, jet, garden, clarified water, and centrifugal pumps.
3. Installation and Setup
Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of the pump controller. If you are unsure about any steps, consult a qualified professional.
3.1 Components Overview

Figure 2: Angled view of the controller showing inlet and outlet ports.
3.2 Mounting
Mount the controller vertically on a wall or stable surface using appropriate fasteners. Ensure it is protected from direct sunlight, rain, and freezing temperatures. The unit should be installed above the highest water level of the pump to prevent water ingress into the electrical components.
3.3 Plumbing Connections
- Connect the pump's discharge pipe to the controller's inlet port (typically marked 'IN' or with an arrow indicating flow into the unit).
- Connect the household water supply pipe to the controller's outlet port (typically marked 'OUT' or with an arrow indicating flow out of the unit).
- Ensure all connections are watertight using thread sealant tape or appropriate gaskets.

3.4 Electrical Connections
This device operates on 110V AC. All electrical wiring should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local codes and regulations.
- Ensure the main power supply is disconnected before making any electrical connections.
- Connect the power supply cable (110V AC) to the designated input terminals on the controller.
- Connect the pump's power cable to the designated output terminals on the controller.
- Secure all wiring connections and ensure proper grounding.

4. Operation
Once properly installed and powered, the Zerone Automatic Pump Control operates automatically.
4.1 Initial Start-up
- Open a tap in your water system to allow water to flow.
- Restore power to the controller. The 'Power on' indicator should illuminate.
- The pump will start automatically. Allow it to run until water flows steadily from the open tap, indicating the system is primed.
- Close the tap. The pump should continue to run for a few seconds to build pressure, then stop. The 'Pump on' indicator will turn off.
4.2 Automatic Function
The controller monitors water pressure and flow. When a tap is opened, the pressure drops, and the controller starts the pump. When the tap is closed, the pressure rises, and the controller stops the pump after a short delay.
4.3 Dry-Run Protection and Restart
If the pump runs without water (dry-run), the 'Failure' indicator will illuminate, and the pump will stop to prevent damage. To restart the pump after a dry-run event:
- Ensure the water supply to the pump is restored.
- Press the Restart button on the controller. The pump will attempt to restart.
- If the water supply is still insufficient, the 'Failure' indicator will re-illuminate, and the pump will stop again. Repeat the process once water supply is confirmed.

5. Maintenance
The Zerone Automatic Pump Control is designed for minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can ensure longevity and optimal performance.
- Inspect Connections: Periodically check all plumbing and electrical connections for leaks or loose wiring. Tighten as necessary.
- Clean Exterior: Keep the exterior of the controller clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Winterization: In areas prone to freezing, ensure the controller and connected pipes are drained or protected from freezing temperatures to prevent damage.
6. Troubleshooting
Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start when tap is opened. | No power; 'Failure' indicator on; pump motor issue. | Check power supply. If 'Failure' is on, press Restart button after ensuring water supply. Check pump motor for issues. |
| Pump runs continuously. | Leak in plumbing system; check valve issue; controller malfunction. | Inspect plumbing for leaks. Check if the pump's check valve is functioning correctly. If issues persist, consult support. |
| 'Failure' indicator is on. | Dry-run (no water supply); air in the system. | Ensure water supply is available. Press the Restart button. Prime the pump if necessary to remove air. |
| Pump cycles on and off rapidly. | Small leak in the system; pressure fluctuations. | Check for minor leaks. Ensure stable water pressure from the source. |
