3.3 Connections
- Antenna Connection: Connect a suitable DAB/FM antenna to the coaxial antenna input on the rear panel. A good quality antenna is crucial for optimal reception.
- Audio Output (Analog): Use RCA cables to connect the 'LINE OUT' (L/R) ports on the Tuner II to an available analog input (e.g., 'AUX', 'TUNER') on your amplifier or receiver.
- Audio Output (Digital): For digital audio transmission, connect an optical cable from the 'OPTICAL OUT' port on the Tuner II to a digital optical input on your DAC or digital amplifier.
- Power Connection: Ensure the voltage selector switch (100-120V or 220-240V) is set correctly for your region's power supply. Connect the power cable to the AC input on the rear panel and then to a wall outlet.
- USB (UPGRADES): This USB port is intended for future firmware upgrades only. Do not connect other devices to this port.
3.4 Initial Power On
After making all connections, locate the main power switch on the rear panel and set it to the 'ON' position. The unit will power on and the front display will illuminate.

- Ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate ventilation. Do not block any ventilation openings. Avoid placing the unit in enclosed spaces or on soft surfaces that may impede airflow.
- Placement: Place the unit on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, excessive dust, moisture, or vibrations.
- Power: Disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
6. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your Tangent Tuner II, consult the following troubleshooting guide:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power | Power cable disconnected; Rear power switch off; Incorrect voltage selector setting. | Ensure power cable is securely connected. Turn the rear power switch to 'ON'. Verify the voltage selector is set correctly for your region. |
| No signal or poor reception (DAB/FM) | Antenna not connected or faulty; Weak signal area; Interference. | Check antenna connection. Try repositioning the antenna or using a higher-gain antenna. Perform a new station scan. Move unit away from other electronic devices. |
| No sound output | Audio cables disconnected; Incorrect input selected on amplifier; Amplifier volume too low. | Verify RCA or optical cables are securely connected to both the Tuner II and your amplifier. Select the correct input source on your amplifier. Increase amplifier volume. |
| Remote control not working | Batteries depleted; Obstruction between remote and unit; Remote not pointed correctly. | Replace remote control batteries. Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the Tuner II's front panel sensor. Point the remote directly at the unit. |
| Cannot save more than 6 presets | Unit design limitation. | The Tangent Tuner II is designed with a maximum of six programmable presets. This is not a fault. |
