4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation and Charging
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the 1800mAH Li-ion battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery pack into place until it clicks securely.
- Place the radio into the desktop charger. Ensure the charging contacts on the radio align with those on the charger.
- Connect the AC wall adapter to the desktop charger and plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
- The charging indicator light on the charger will illuminate, typically red during charging and green when fully charged. Allow approximately 4-6 hours for a full charge.

4.2. Attaching the Belt Clip
- Locate the two small screws on the back of the radio.
- Align the belt clip with the screw holes.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Power On/Off and Volume Control
- To power on the radio, rotate the Power/Volume Knob (top-left knob) clockwise until you hear a click and the radio announces the current channel.
- Continue rotating the knob clockwise to increase the volume, and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
- To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.
5.2. Channel Selection
- Rotate the Channel Selector Knob (top-right knob) to choose one of the 16 available channels.
- The radio will announce the selected channel number.
5.3. Transmitting and Receiving
- To transmit, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button located on the left side of the radio.
- Speak clearly into the microphone, located below the PTT button.
- Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
- When receiving a transmission, the radio's speaker will output the audio.
5.4. Monitor Function
Press the Monitor button (typically a side button labeled 'MON' or similar) to temporarily disable the squelch and listen for weak signals or activity on the current channel without a privacy code.
5.5. Scan Function
Activate the Scan function (refer to specific button or menu option if applicable, or if programmed to a side button) to cycle through programmed channels and stop on any active channel. The radio will remain on the active channel until the transmission ends, then resume scanning.
