Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and safety of your FOTILE EMG9030 range hood. It is recommended to have the installation performed by a qualified professional.
Pre-Installation Checks
- Ensure the installation space between two upper cabinets is at least 35 7/8 inches (910mm).
- Verify that all accessories listed in the carton are present.
- Confirm the wall structure can support the weight of the range hood (approximately 81 pounds). If installing on drywall, locate timber piles for secure mounting.
Installation Steps (Summary)
- Determine Installation Height: The recommended installation height from the hob's grill sets to the bottom of the range hood is between 25 5/8 inches (650mm) and 25 9/16 inches (700mm). Mark the central point and the installation height line on the wall.
- Mount Main Machine Hook: Use a wood detecting instrument to locate timber piles behind the wall. Mark the hook screw holes (7/16 inch / 10mm diameter, 23/8 inch / 60mm depth). Fix the main machine hook horizontally using expansion pipes and wood screws. Ensure at least two screws are fixed into a timber pile.
- Mount Decorative Cover Hook: Mark the central point for the decorative cover hook, ensuring it is aligned with the main machine hook and at most 15 3/4 inches (400mm) above it. Fix the decorative cover hook with expansion pipes and wood screws.
- Prepare Range Hood: Unscrew the four screws fixing the outer cover at the back of the range hood. Carefully remove the outer cover and decorative cover.
- Install Vent Cover and Gland: Fix the vent cover and gland on the air outlet using eight M4*12 screws (for North America) or M4*18 screws (for other regions). Ensure all 8 screws are used for proper sealing.
- Hang Range Hood: With assistance, carefully hang the range hood onto the main machine hook. Use a leveling instrument to ensure it is perfectly horizontal. Secure the range hood and main machine hook with one M4*8 screw near the vent cover.
- Connect Ducting: For North America, attach the aluminum pipe to the vent cover and seal the connection with aluminum foil tape. Ensure the aluminum pipe is straightened and has no more than 3 meters in length and 3 bends for optimal airflow.
- Reassemble Covers: Tear off the protective film from the outer cover and decorative cover. Insert the decorative cover into the outer cover, stretching the space to about 2 inches (50mm). Hang the decorative cover onto its hook, then slowly pull down the outer cover to correctly position it on the smoke collection chamber. Ensure screws on the outer cover are locked into the slot of the hood shelf.
- Final Touches: Install the air intake filter and the wing-like surround suction plate. Tear off the protective film from the oil cup and install it. Clean the glass surface of the range hood and install the anti-collision sheath on both sides of the glass surface.
