4. Setup & Installation

Follow these steps to securely install the tail bag on your motorcycle:

  1. Positioning: Place the tail bag on the rear seat or tail section of your motorcycle. Ensure it is centered and does not obstruct any controls or lights.
  2. Attaching Straps: Use the two provided buckle straps. Loop each strap around a secure point on your motorcycle's frame, passenger grab handles, or under the seat cushion.
  3. Connecting Buckles: Connect the buckles on the straps to the corresponding buckles on the tail bag.
  4. Tightening: Pull the loose ends of the straps to tighten the bag securely against the motorcycle. Ensure the bag is stable and does not shift during movement.
  5. Final Check: Before riding, gently tug on the bag in various directions to confirm it is firmly attached. Adjust straps as necessary.

Note: For optimal security, ensure the straps are not excessively long or loose, as this could lead to movement or interference. Some users may choose to trim excess strap length or secure it with ties.

5.1 Using as a Tail Bag

Once securely installed, the tail bag provides convenient storage for various items such as a wallet, phone, camera, energy drinks, or a small helmet. The main compartment is accessed via a zipper on the top.

5.2 Expanding Storage Capacity

The tail bag features an expandable bottom section. To increase the storage volume from 11.5 liters to 15 liters, locate the zipper around the lower perimeter of the bag and unzip it. This will raise the top section, providing additional height and capacity.

Important: If the bag is already securely strapped to the motorcycle, you may need to slightly loosen the attachment straps before expanding the bag to avoid strain on the material and buckles. Re-tighten the straps after expansion.

5.3 Using the Rain Cover

While the bag is made of water-resistant material, for heavy rain conditions, use the included rain cover for enhanced protection. Place the rain cover over the entire bag, ensuring it fits snugly. Secure any elastic or drawstrings if present to prevent it from being dislodged by wind during travel.

Recommendation: Periodically check the rain cover's fit during long rides in adverse weather.

5.4 Using as a Handbag

When detached from the motorcycle, the tail bag can be carried as a handbag using the integrated handle on the top. This allows for easy transport of your belongings off the bike.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the bag with a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, which can damage the PU leather and polyester materials.
  • Drying: Allow the bag to air dry completely before storing or reusing. Do not expose to direct heat sources.
  • Storage: Store the bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
  • Strap Inspection: Regularly inspect the buckle straps for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace straps if they show significant deterioration to ensure secure attachment.
  • Zipper Care: Keep zippers clean and free of debris. Lubricate with a zipper lubricant if they become stiff.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Bag feels loose after installation:

Ensure the buckle straps are pulled taut and securely fastened. Check that the straps are routed around stable points on the motorcycle. Re-adjust and re-tighten as needed.

  • Difficulty expanding the bag:

If the bag is tightly strapped to the motorcycle, the expansion zipper may be difficult to operate. Loosen the attachment straps slightly before unzipping the expansion section, then re-tighten the straps.

  • Rain cover dislodges during riding:

Ensure the rain cover is fitted snugly over the bag. If the cover has elastic or drawstrings, ensure they are properly secured. Consider adding additional securing points if riding at high speeds or in strong winds.

  • Zippers are stiff or difficult to operate:

Clean any dirt or debris from the zipper teeth. Apply a small amount of zipper lubricant or wax to the teeth to improve smooth operation.
