Introduction

The Broadlink RM Mini 3 is a compact and intelligent universal infrared (IR) remote control designed to integrate your traditional IR-controlled home appliances into a smart home ecosystem. It allows you to control devices such as TVs, set-top boxes, air conditioners, and more, using your smartphone or voice commands through compatible smart assistants.

The Broadlink RM Mini 3 is designed for ease of use and discreet placement. Its compact size allows it to blend into any home environment.

Setup

1. Powering On

  1. Connect the provided USB cable to the Micro USB port on the RM Mini 3.
  2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a 5V 1A USB power adapter (not included) and then into a power outlet.
  3. The LED indicator on the device will begin to flash, indicating it is powered on and ready for setup.

2. App Installation

  1. Download the latest BroadLink App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Search for "BroadLink".
  2. Install the app on your smartphone or tablet.
  3. Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.

3. Connecting to Wi-Fi

The RM Mini 3 supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. It is not compatible with 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mesh router systems.

  1. Open the BroadLink App and tap 'Add Device'.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the RM Mini 3 to your home Wi-Fi network.
  3. You will need to select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter its password (up to 32 characters).
  4. Ensure your smartphone is also connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network during the setup process.

4. Adding IR Appliances

  1. Once the RM Mini 3 is connected to Wi-Fi, select 'Add Appliance' in the app.
  2. Choose the type of appliance you wish to control (e.g., TV, Air Conditioner, Set-top Box).
  3. The app will guide you through a learning process, where the RM Mini 3 learns the IR signals from your existing remote controls. Point your original remote at the RM Mini 3 during this process.
  4. The BroadLink cloud database contains codes for over 50,000 devices. If your device is not found, you can manually program its functions.

Operating Instructions

1. Controlling Appliances via App

After adding your appliances, you can control them directly from the BroadLink App. The app provides a virtual remote interface for each configured device.

2. Voice Control with Alexa and Google Home

The RM Mini 3 is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control of your IR appliances.

  1. Enable the BroadLink skill/service in your Alexa or Google Home app.
  2. Link your BroadLink account.
  3. Discover devices. You can now use voice commands like "Alexa, turn on the TV" or "Hey Google, set the AC to 24 degrees."

3. Scheduling and Scenes

Automate your home by setting schedules and creating custom scenes within the BroadLink App.

4. Code Learning

If an appliance's remote code is not available in the BroadLink cloud database, the RM Mini 3 can learn individual IR commands from your original remote control. This allows for customization and compatibility with a wider range of devices.
