Gate Compatibility
The Yardlock Gate Lock is designed for installation on wood or vinyl gates. It is compatible with gates that swing either into or out of the yard. For optimal security and functionality, ensure your gate post is at least 3.5 inches thick. If the gate post is less than 3.5 inches, a 2x4 wood piece is required on the outside of the post for proper installation.

Setup and Installation
Installation requires a tape measure, electric drill, Phillips bit, and a wood drill bit. All necessary hardware is included. Follow these steps carefully for proper installation:
1. Mark Latch Position
On the inside of your gate, mark the desired height for the latch. This should be no higher than 44 inches (112 cm) from the ground and at least 18 inches (46 cm) below the top of the gate.
2. Install Latch Arm
Hold the latch arm on the edge of the gate at the marked height and mark the screw holes. Secure the latch arm using the provided screws.
3. Install Latch Mechanism
Align the latch mechanism on the gate post with the latch arm and mark the screw holes. Mount the latch mechanism to the post using the provided screws.
4. Drill Cable Hole
Push the top of the latch mechanism against the post and mark the post. Drill a horizontal 3/8-inch hole through the post at a slight angle, ensuring the hole exits near the center on the other side.
5. Install Latch Cover
Feed the cable through the drilled hole. Using the longest screw provided, secure the latch cover at the top. Then, use the two shorter screws to secure the bottom of the latch cover.
6. Install Gate Lock Unit
On the outside of the post, slide the cable through the back hole of the Yardlock unit and align it with the hole on the post. Mark the locations for the four screw holes. Secure the Yardlock unit with the provided screws, being careful not to overtighten.
7. Connect Cable to Lock Unit
With the Yardlock unit fully open, slide the cable through pins A and B. Pull the cable tight and install screw A. Slightly lift the cable and loop it around pin B and under itself between pins A and B. Install screw into pin B and tighten. Tuck the remaining cable into the back of the Yardlock unit and close the unit.
8. Set Personal Code
The factory setting is "0000". To set your personal code, open the Yardlock unit and remove the rubber block. Push the lever left and forward in the direction of the arrow. Rotate the dials to your desired 4-digit combination. For better security, avoid duplicate or sequential digits. Push the lever back up and to the right to its original position. Reinstall the rubber block and close the Yardlock unit.
