Setup
- Prepare the Master Cylinder:
Before attaching any adapter, ensure the master cylinder reservoir and surrounding area are thoroughly cleaned to prevent contaminants from entering the brake system. Remove as much old brake fluid as possible from the reservoir using a fluid extractor, then refill with new, clean brake fluid from a sealed container.
- Select the Correct Adapter:
Identify the appropriate adapter from the 12-piece set that matches your vehicle's master cylinder reservoir. Consider both the diameter and the cap style (screw-on, bayonet, or universal bracket). If unsure, measure the inside and outside diameters of your master cylinder opening.
- Attach the Adapter:
Securely attach the selected adapter to the master cylinder reservoir. For screw-on adapters, hand-tighten until snug. For universal adapters, use the provided brackets, washers, and J-bolts to create a firm seal. Avoid overtightening to prevent damage or warping, which could lead to leaks.
- Connect to ARES Bleeder:
Connect the quick-connect coupler from your ARES 70921, 18051, or 18053 brake bleeder to the adapter on the master cylinder. Ensure a secure connection to maintain pressure during the bleeding process.
- Fill the Pressure Bleeder:
Fill your ARES pressure bleeder with new, clean brake fluid. It is recommended to use at least one quart of fluid to ensure you do not run out during the bleeding process, which could introduce air into the system.
- Pressurize the System:
Pump the handle of the pressure bleeder to pressurize the system to approximately 10 PSI. Do not exceed recommended pressure to avoid damaging the master cylinder or adapters.

Operating Instructions (Brake Bleeding)
Once the system is set up and pressurized, proceed with bleeding the brakes. Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommended bleeding sequence, typically starting with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder.
- Prepare for Bleeding:
Attach a clear hose to the bleeder screw of the caliper or wheel cylinder you are bleeding. Place the other end of the hose into a clear container partially filled with new brake fluid to observe air bubbles.
- Open Bleeder Screw:
Using an appropriate wrench, slowly open the bleeder screw. The pressurized fluid from the master cylinder will begin to flow through the hose into the container. Observe the fluid for air bubbles.
- Monitor Fluid Flow:
Allow the fluid to flow until no more air bubbles are visible in the clear hose. Ensure the master cylinder reservoir remains adequately filled throughout the process by monitoring the fluid level in your pressure bleeder.
- Close Bleeder Screw:
Once the fluid runs clear and bubble-free, close the bleeder screw tightly. Remove the hose.
- Repeat for All Wheels:
Repeat the bleeding process for each wheel according to the manufacturer's specified sequence. Regularly check the pressure in your ARES bleeder and repressurize if necessary.
- Final Steps:
After bleeding all wheels, release the pressure from the ARES bleeder and carefully remove the adapter from the master cylinder. Top off the master cylinder reservoir to the "MAX" line with fresh brake fluid. Test the brake pedal for firmness before driving the vehicle.

Maintenance
Proper maintenance of your ARES Master Cylinder Adapter Kit ensures longevity and reliable performance.
- Cleaning: After each use, thoroughly clean all adapters and components with brake cleaner to remove any residual brake fluid.
- Storage: Store the kit in its custom molded case in a dry, clean environment to protect components from damage and corrosion.
- Fluid Disposal: Always dispose of used brake fluid responsibly and in accordance with local environmental regulations. Do not pour used brake fluid down drains or onto the ground.
Troubleshooting
- Air in the System After Bleeding:
Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free. Verify the master cylinder reservoir did not run dry during the bleeding process. Re-bleed the system, paying close attention to the manufacturer's recommended sequence and ensuring no air enters through loose connections or an empty reservoir.
- Adapter Leaks:
Check that the correct adapter is used for your master cylinder. Ensure the adapter is securely tightened but not overtightened. Inspect rubber seals and O-rings for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
- Difficulty Pressurizing Bleeder:
Verify that all connections on the bleeder and adapter are tight. Check the bleeder unit itself for any leaks or damage. Ensure the pressure relief valve is closed.
