Portable Full Frequency Receiver with Clock and Alarm

1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Zerone AM FM Pocket Radio, Model 2. This portable full-frequency receiver is designed to provide reliable access to FM, AM, Shortwave (SW), Longwave (LW), and TV sound broadcasts. It includes convenient features such as a clock, alarm, and memory functions. Please read this manual carefully to ensure proper use and to maximize your listening experience.

2. Product Overview

The Zerone Pocket Radio is a compact and versatile device. Familiarize yourself with its components:

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The radio requires two (2) AA batteries (not included) for portable operation.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the battery compartment cover downwards to open it.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Caution: Do not mix new and old batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.

3.2 External Power Supply

The radio supports external power supply via a Micro USB connection (3V-5V DC). A charging cable is NOT included. Connect a compatible Micro USB cable to the radio's Micro USB port and to a suitable power source (e.g., USB wall adapter, computer USB port).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off

  • To turn the radio ON, press the ON/OFF button.
  • To turn the radio OFF, press the ON/OFF button again.
  • A total power off button is also available to prevent battery leakage or accidental power-on when the radio is stored.

4.2 Band Selection

Press the FM, MW (AM), or SW buttons to switch between frequency bands. The radio supports FM, AM, SW1-SW7, LW, and TV sound frequencies.

4.3 Tuning

There are two primary methods for tuning:

  • Manual Tuning: Use the TUNING UP (▲) and TUNING DOWN (▼) buttons to adjust the frequency incrementally. The default step values are 0.05MHz for FM, 0.005MHz for Shortwave, and 9KHz or 10KHz for MW (AM), depending on the radio type (Type 1: 10KHz, Type 2: 9KHz).
  • Automatic Search: The radio supports automatic station searching. Refer to the on-screen prompts or specific button combinations for initiating an auto-scan.

4.4 Volume Control

Adjust the listening volume using the VOLUME UP (▲) and VOLUME DOWN (▼) buttons.

4.5 Clock and Alarm Functions

The radio features a built-in clock and alarm function.

  • To set the time, press the TIME button, then use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to adjust.
  • To set the alarm, refer to the specific instructions for your model, typically involving a long press of the ALARM or TIME button followed by time adjustment.

4.6 Memory Function

The radio can store up to 60 stations (20 for Shortwave, 20 for Medium Wave, and 20 for FM).

  • To save a station: Tune to the desired station, then long press the MEMORY button. The display will prompt you to select a memory slot. Use the tuning buttons to select a slot, then press MEMORY again to confirm.
  • To recall a saved station: Press the MEMORY button briefly, then use the tuning buttons to cycle through saved stations.
  • The FAVORITE button may provide quick access to a preferred station.

4.7 Mute and Lock Functions

  • Mute: Press the MUTE button to silence the audio. Press again to unmute.
  • Lock Frequency: The radio can be set to a lock frequency state to prevent accidental changes. Refer to the specific button combination for activation and deactivation (e.g., long press LOCK or a combination of buttons).

4.8 Automatic Backlight

The buttons feature an automatic backlight function for easier operation in low-light conditions.

4.9 FM Stereo Mode (with Earphones)

To activate FM stereo sound:

  1. Plug earphones into the 3.5mm headphone jack.
  2. In FM mode, long press the MEMORY button for approximately 2 seconds. A "STEREO" indicator will appear on the display.
  3. To cancel stereo mode, long press the MEMORY button again, or unplug the earphones.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Antenna: Handle the telescopic antenna carefully to avoid bending or breaking.

7. Troubleshooting
