Connecting to Nintendo Switch

  1. Ensure your Nintendo Switch console is powered on and updated to the latest system software.
  2. From the HOME Menu, select Controllers, then Change Grip/Order.
  3. Press and hold the SYNC Button on the top of the Nyko Wireless Core Controller until the player LEDs begin to flash.
  4. Once connected, the player LED(s) corresponding to the controller number will remain lit.
  5. For initial pairing, it may be necessary to connect the controller physically to the Switch dock using the USB-C cable.

Connecting to PC / Android

The Nyko Wireless Core Controller can also be connected to Windows PCs and Android devices via Bluetooth.

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your PC or Android device.
  2. Go to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  3. Press and hold the SYNC Button on the controller until the player LEDs begin to flash.
  4. Select "Nyko Core Controller" or similar from the list of available devices to pair.
  5. For PC, ensure necessary drivers are installed if prompted. Some games or applications may require specific controller input modes (e.g., XInput).

Operating Instructions

Basic Controls

The controller features standard button layouts including A, B, X, Y buttons, D-pad, Left and Right analog sticks, L/R and ZL/ZR shoulder buttons, and Plus/Minus buttons. The Home button and Capture button function similarly to official Switch controllers.

Turbo Function Programming

The programmable turbo button allows for rapid, automatic input of any face button or trigger. This feature can provide a competitive edge in games requiring fast, repeated button presses.

  1. Press and hold the TURBO button.
  2. While holding TURBO, press the desired face button (A, B, X, Y) or trigger (L, R, ZL, ZR) you wish to assign turbo functionality to.
  3. Release both buttons. The assigned button will now activate turbo when pressed and held.
  4. To disable turbo for a specific button, repeat the process: hold TURBO and press the assigned button again.

Gyroscope and Vibration Feedback

The controller supports motion controls via its built-in gyroscope, compatible with games that utilize this feature on Nintendo Switch. Vibration feedback provides tactile responses to in-game actions, enhancing immersion.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the controller, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or allow liquids to enter the controller's openings.

Storage

Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid placing heavy objects on the controller to prevent damage.

Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the controller frequently. If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50% before storage and recharge every few months.

Troubleshooting

  • Controller not connecting/pairing:
    • Ensure the controller is fully charged.
    • Verify Bluetooth is enabled on your device (Switch, PC, Android).
    • Make sure the controller is in pairing mode (flashing LEDs after pressing SYNC button).
    • Try resetting the controller by inserting a paperclip into the small reset hole (if available, usually on the back or bottom).
    • For Nintendo Switch, try connecting the controller directly to the dock via USB-C cable for initial pairing.
    • Remove previous pairings from your device's Bluetooth settings and attempt to pair again.
  • Buttons/Joysticks unresponsive or drifting:
    • Ensure the controller's battery is not critically low.
    • Try recalibrating joysticks and motion controls through your console's or device's system settings.
    • Perform a controller reset.
    • Check for any physical obstructions around the buttons or joysticks.
  • Charging issues:
    • Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to both the controller and the power source.
    • Try a different USB port or power adapter.
    • Test the charging cable with another compatible device to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Turbo function not working:
    • Ensure you are following the correct programming steps (hold TURBO, then press desired button).
    • Some games may not fully support or may override turbo functionality.
  • PC compatibility issues (e.g., "wd" spam, cursor drift):
    • This can sometimes occur with generic controllers. Ensure your PC's Bluetooth drivers are up to date.
    • Try connecting via USB-C cable instead of Bluetooth.
    • Some third-party software for controller mapping might conflict; try uninstalling such software if you experience issues.
    • Refer to Nyko's official support resources for specific PC driver or compatibility updates.
