1. Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the Syantek Remote Control Outlet Wireless Light Switch kit, Model BH9912U-3-1. This kit allows you to remotely control household appliances and lighting with ease, offering convenience and potential energy savings. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper operation and safety.

2. Package Contents

The Syantek Remote Control Outlet kit (Model BH9912U-3-1) includes the following items:

3. Component Identification

Familiarize yourself with the components of your remote control outlet system:

  • Remote Control Outlet: Plugs into a standard wall receptacle. Features a 3-prong plug, a program indicator light, and a program/manual ON/OFF button on the side.
  • Remote Control Transmitter: Handheld device with ON/OFF buttons for each channel (1-5).

4. Setup Instructions

4.1. Remote Control Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
  2. Open the compartment cover.
  3. Insert the included 12V/23A battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

4.2. Initial Plug-in and Pairing

The outlets and remote control are pre-programmed at the factory for immediate use. Simply plug an outlet into a standard 120V AC wall receptacle and then plug your desired appliance into the remote control outlet. The remote control buttons (1, 2, 3) will correspond to the respective outlets as indicated by their factory programming.

The compact design of the outlets ensures that they occupy only one wall socket, leaving the other free for use.

5. Operating Instructions

To operate your appliances using the remote control outlets:

  1. Ensure the remote control outlet is plugged into a live wall receptacle and your appliance is plugged into the remote control outlet.
  2. Press the corresponding 'ON' button on the remote control to turn on the appliance.
  3. Press the corresponding 'OFF' button on the remote control to turn off the appliance.

The remote control uses a strong RF signal that can operate through doors and walls up to 100 feet away, without interfering with other electronics.

6. Programming and Customization

The Syantek remote control outlets offer flexibility in programming. You can customize which remote button controls which outlet, or even have multiple remotes control the same outlet.

6.1. Understanding Code Groups

All Syantek remote control outlets and transmitters operate on the same radio frequency (433.92 MHz). Each transmitter button group (1-5) sends a unique identifier along with the ON/OFF command. Receivers are programmed to respond to specific codes.

6.2. Programming a Receiver to an Additional Transmitter Button

This procedure allows a receiver to respond to a new or additional transmitter button, even from a different remote.

  1. Unplug any device from the receiver outlet.
  2. Plug the receiver into a live wall receptacle without pressing the program button.
  3. Press and hold the program button on the side of the receiver for approximately 5 seconds until the indicator light begins to flash.
  4. While the light is flashing, press the desired 'ON' or 'OFF' button on the remote control transmitter that you wish to pair.
  5. The indicator light on the receiver will stop flashing and turn off, indicating successful programming.

6.3. Erasing All Receiver Memory/Pairings

This procedure will clear all previously programmed pairings from a receiver, making it unresponsive to any remote until reprogrammed.

  1. Unplug any device from the receiver.
  2. Remove power from the receiver by unplugging it from the wall receptacle.
  3. While pressing and holding the program button on the side of the receiver, plug the receiver back into the wall receptacle.
  4. Continue holding the button until the indicator light flashes, then release the button.
  5. The light will stop flashing, and all previous pairings are erased.

6.4. Reassigning Control of a Receiver

To change which remote button controls a specific receiver, or to move it to a different remote:

  1. First, erase the receiver's current programming using Procedure 6.3 (Erasing All Receiver Memory/Pairings).
  2. Then, reprogram the receiver to the new desired transmitter button using Procedure 6.2 (Programming a Receiver to an Additional Transmitter Button).

7. Maintenance

  • Keep the outlets and remote control clean and dry.
  • Replace the 12V/23A battery in the remote control when its range decreases or it becomes unresponsive.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the devices yourself, unless performing advanced modifications with appropriate electronic skills and caution.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Outlet not responding to remote:
    • Check if the remote control battery needs replacement.
    • Ensure the remote control outlet is securely plugged into a live wall receptacle.
    • Verify that the appliance plugged into the outlet is functioning correctly.
    • Confirm that the remote control is within the 100-foot operating range.
    • Re-program the receiver to the desired remote button using Procedure 6.2.
  • Limited operating range:
    • Ensure the remote control battery is fresh.
    • Minimize obstructions like thick walls or metal objects between the remote and the outlet.
    • Advanced users: Some users with electronics hobby skills have reported improving range by soldering a 1/4 wavelength wire antenna (approx. 6.75 inches for 434 MHz) to the circuit board of the receiver or transmitter. This modification requires soldering skills and may void your warranty. Proceed with caution.
  • Outlet responds to multiple buttons or unexpectedly:
    • This usually indicates incorrect programming. Follow Procedure 6.3 to erase all programming from the receiver, then follow Procedure 6.2 to reprogram it to the single desired remote button.
