Introduction
The Logitech Harmony Elite is an advanced universal remote control system designed to simplify your home entertainment and smart home experience. It provides all-in-one control for up to 15 devices, featuring a full-color touchscreen, one-touch activities, and compatibility with a wide range of devices, including Alexa for voice control.
Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your Harmony Elite system:
- Unboxing and Initial Charge:
Upon unboxing, ensure all components are present: the Harmony Elite remote, charging station, Harmony Hub, 2 IR mini-blasters, USB cable, 2 AC adapters, and user documentation. Place the remote in the charging station to ensure it is fully charged before proceeding with setup.Video: Unboxing the Logitech Harmony Elite Remote Control Hub, showing the remote, charging station, and hub.

- Connect the Harmony Hub:
Connect the Harmony Hub to power. Position the Hub in a central location within your entertainment area. The Hub sends signals to your devices, so it should be in line of sight with your devices or utilize the included IR mini-blasters for devices hidden in cabinets. - Install Harmony Software/App:
Download the Harmony app on your iOS or Android smartphone/tablet. For initial comprehensive configuration, it is recommended to use the Harmony software on a laptop. Create an ID and password if you don't have one. - Configure Devices and Activities:
Using the Harmony software on your laptop, connect the Harmony remote via USB. Add all your home entertainment and smart home devices (e.g., TV, sound system, streaming devices, smart lights). The system supports over 270,000 devices. Create 'Activities' such as "Watch TV" or "Listen to Music" which will automatically power on and switch all necessary devices to the correct settings. For multi-zone audio systems, each zone may need to be configured as a separate device. - Sync and Test:
After configuring devices and activities, sync the settings to your remote. Test each activity to ensure all devices respond correctly. Fine-tune settings as needed and re-sync. - Alexa Integration:
To enable voice control, activate the Harmony skill within your Amazon Alexa app. You can assign friendly names to your activities and channels for easier voice commands (e.g., "Alexa, turn on Netflix").
Operating Instructions
The Harmony Elite remote offers intuitive control through its touchscreen and physical buttons.
- Full-Color Touchscreen:
Swipe and tap the full-color touchscreen to navigate menus, select channels, adjust volume, and control smart home devices like Philips Hue lights. The screen displays activities and devices for quick access.

- One-Touch Activities:
Select an activity like "Watch a Movie" from the touchscreen or a dedicated button. The Harmony system will automatically power on the TV, Blu-ray player, and sound system, and set them to the correct inputs. - Physical Buttons:
Dedicated buttons provide quick access to common functions such as volume control, channel changing, play/pause, DVR, and menu navigation. These buttons can often be customized to perform specific actions within activities.Video: A user demonstrating the Logitech Harmony Elite remote control, showing how to select devices and activities on the touchscreen and use physical buttons.
- Smart Home Control:
Beyond entertainment, the Harmony Elite can control compatible smart home devices, including lights and thermostats. - Smartphone/Tablet Control:
The Harmony app transforms your smartphone or tablet into a personal universal remote, offering an alternative control interface.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Harmony Elite system:
- Charging:
Regularly place the remote in its charging station to keep the Lithium-Ion battery charged. The charging cradle is designed for convenient and reliable contact. - Cleaning:
Wipe the remote and Hub with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. - Software Updates:
Periodically check for software updates for the Harmony app and Hub to ensure compatibility and access to new features.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Harmony Elite, consider the following:
- Internet Connection:
The Harmony system requires an active internet connection to function correctly, as the remote communicates with the Hub via the internet. Ensure your home network is stable. - Hub Placement:
Verify the Harmony Hub is positioned to have a clear line of sight to your devices, or that the IR mini-blasters are correctly placed and connected to control hidden components. - Lag or Unresponsive Devices:
A slight delay may occur due to internet dependency. If devices are consistently unresponsive, check your internet connection and ensure the Hub is not obstructed. - Syncing Issues:
If changes made in the app or software are not reflected, ensure the remote is connected via USB to your computer during the sync process. For Alexa integration issues, try unplugging and resetting your router, then restarting Alexa and asking it to search for devices. - Accidental Touchscreen Activation:
Be mindful of how you hold the remote to avoid inadvertently activating touchscreen buttons. - Activity Failure:
If a device fails to turn on or off during an activity, try turning off all devices (except smart lights) using the 'off' button on the remote, then restart the desired activity. This often resolves synchronization issues.
