4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device.
- Unscrew the battery compartment cover.
- Insert four (4) 1.5V AAA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Replace the cover and secure it with the screw.
4.2. Connecting Test Leads
- For most voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, and temperature measurements, connect the red test lead to the V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C input jack and the black test lead to the COM input jack.
- For current measurements up to 600mA, connect the red test lead to the µA/mA input jack and the black test lead to the COM input jack.
- For current measurements up to 10A, connect the red test lead to the 10A input jack and the black test lead to the COM input jack.
5. Operating Instructions
Turn the rotary switch to the desired measurement function. Use the MODE button to cycle through sub-functions (e.g., AC/DC voltage, diode/continuity). The RANGE button allows manual range selection, while the REL button activates relative measurement. The HOLD button freezes the display reading, and the PEAK button captures peak values. The MAX/MIN/AVG button cycles through maximum, minimum, and average readings.
5.1. Voltage Measurement (DCV, ACV, ACV+DCV)
- Set the rotary switch to V (DCV) or V~ (ACV).
- Connect test leads as described in Section 4.2 (V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C and COM).
- Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit or component to be measured.
- For ACV+DCV or Lo Z (low impedance) measurements, use the MODE button to select the appropriate function.
5.2. Current Measurement (DCA, ACA)
- Set the rotary switch to µA, mA, or 10A.
- Connect test leads to the appropriate current input jack (µA/mA or 10A) and COM.
- WARNING: Connect the meter in series with the circuit. Never connect the meter in parallel to a voltage source when in current mode, as this can blow the fuse or damage the meter.
5.3. Resistance Measurement (Ω)
- Set the rotary switch to Ω.
- Connect test leads to V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C and COM.
- Ensure the circuit or component is de-energized before measuring resistance.
- Connect the test leads across the component.
5.4. Capacitance Measurement (CAP)
- Set the rotary switch to CAP.
- Connect test leads to V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C and COM.
- Ensure capacitors are fully discharged before measurement to prevent damage to the meter.
- Connect the test leads across the capacitor.
5.5. Frequency Measurement (Hz)
- Set the rotary switch to Hz.
- Connect test leads to V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C and COM.
- Connect the test leads across the signal source.
5.6. Temperature Measurement (°C)
- Set the rotary switch to °C.
- Connect the K-type temperature sensor to the temperature adapter, then insert the adapter into the V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C and COM jacks.
- Place the tip of the temperature sensor on or near the object whose temperature is to be measured.
5.7. Continuity Test and Diode Test
- Set the rotary switch to the continuity/diode symbol.
- Connect test leads to V/Ω/Hz/CAP/°C and COM.
- For continuity, touch the test leads across the circuit. A buzzer will sound for continuity.
- For diode test, connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode of the diode. The forward voltage drop will be displayed. Reverse the leads to check for open circuit.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning
Wipe the meter with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is dry before use.
6.2. Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in Section 4.1. Use only 1.5V AAA batteries.
6.3. Fuse Replacement
If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement. Refer to the full instruction manual for detailed fuse replacement procedures. Always use fuses of the specified type and rating.
7. Troubleshooting
- No display or erratic readings: Check battery charge and ensure proper battery installation.
- No current measurement: Check the fuse. Ensure test leads are connected to the correct input jacks and in series with the circuit.
- Incorrect readings: Verify the correct function and range are selected. Ensure test leads are properly connected and not damaged.
- "OL" or "OVER" displayed: The measured value exceeds the selected range. Select a higher range or ensure the input is within the meter's capabilities.
