Setup
Battery Installation
The ThermoPro TP15 uses a CR2032 battery (pre-installed). If the display is dim or not turning on, you may need to replace the battery.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the thermometer.
- Use a coin to twist the battery cover counter-clockwise to open it.
- Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
- Replace the battery cover and twist clockwise to secure it.
Initial Use
Before first use, clean the probe tip with a damp cloth or mild soapy water. The thermometer is ready for use once the battery is installed.
Operating Instructions
Taking a Temperature Reading
- Remove the protective probe tip cover.
- Press the power button (usually integrated with the °C/°F button or a separate ON/OFF button, if present, otherwise it turns on when probe is extended).
- Insert the stainless steel probe into the thickest part of the food, avoiding bone or gristle.
- The temperature reading will stabilize within 3-4 seconds.
- Once done, clean the probe and store the thermometer.
Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)
Press the °C/°F button located on the thermometer to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.
Temperature Lock Function (HOLD)
To lock the current temperature reading on the display:
- While the probe is inserted and displaying a temperature, press the HOLD/CAL button once. The reading will be locked.
- You can now remove the probe from the food and read the locked temperature.
- Press the HOLD/CAL button again to unlock the display and resume live temperature readings.

Image: The HOLD function allows you to lock the temperature on the display, making it convenient to read after removing the probe from hot food.
Calibration Function
The TP15 comes pre-calibrated from the factory. However, after extended use, you may wish to recalibrate it to ensure maximum accuracy. A simple ice-bath calibration method is recommended.
- Fill a glass with ice cubes and top it off with cold water. Stir the mixture and let it sit for 3 minutes to ensure the water reaches 0°C (32°F).
- Turn on the thermometer.
- Press and hold the HOLD/CAL button for 5 seconds to enter calibration mode. The display will show "CAL".
- Immediately insert the probe into the ice water, ensuring the probe tip is fully submerged but not touching the bottom or sides of the glass.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize at 0°C (32°F). If it does not, the thermometer will automatically adjust.
- Once calibrated, the display will return to normal operation.

Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: The TP15 is IPX6 waterproof. Clean the probe with a damp cloth or by rinsing under running water after each use. Do NOT immerse the entire thermometer in water for extended periods. Do NOT wash in a dishwasher.
- Storage: Always store the thermometer with the protective probe tip cover in place. Utilize the magnetic back or hanging hole for convenient storage. Store in a dry place at room temperature.
- Battery: Replace the battery when the display becomes dim or unresponsive. Remove the battery if storing for more than four months to prevent leakage.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not expose the thermometer to direct heat sources (e.g., oven, grill flames) for prolonged periods, as this can damage the plastic casing. The probe is designed for high temperatures, but the main unit is not.
Troubleshooting
- Problem: Display is blank or dim.
- Solution: The battery may be dead or low. Replace the CR2032 battery. Ensure the battery is inserted with the correct polarity (+ side up).
- Problem: Temperature reading is inaccurate or inconsistent.
- Solution:
- Ensure the probe is inserted into the thickest part of the food and not touching bone, fat, or gristle.
- Perform a calibration using the ice-bath method described in the "Operating Instructions" section.
- Check if the probe tip is clean and free of debris.
- Problem: "LLL" or "HHH" displayed.
- Solution: This indicates the temperature is outside the measurable range of the thermometer (-50°C to 300°C / -58°F to 572°F). Ensure the probe is not exposed to temperatures below or above this range.
