  • Quick Start Guide (not included in this digital manual)

3. Setup and Installation

Before you begin, ensure you have an existing Arlo Base Station and an Arlo Audio Doorbell (or other compatible Arlo device) already set up and connected to your Arlo account. The Arlo Chime requires an Arlo Base Station to function.

  1. Power On the Chime: Plug the Arlo Chime into a standard indoor wall outlet. Ensure the outlet is easily accessible and within a reasonable range of your Arlo Base Station for optimal connectivity.
  2. Add to Arlo Account:
    • Open the Arlo app on your smartphone or tablet.
    • Navigate to the "Devices" section or the "Add New Device" option.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to add the Arlo Chime to your account. The app will guide you through the pairing process with your Arlo Base Station.
  3. Pair with Arlo Audio Doorbell (Optional): If you intend to use the Chime with an Arlo Audio Doorbell, ensure both devices are paired within the Arlo app. You can customize the chime melody for different doorbells if you have multiple.

4. Operation

Once set up, the Arlo Chime operates in conjunction with your Arlo system to provide various alerts.

4.1 Doorbell Alerts

When someone presses your Arlo Audio Doorbell, the Arlo Chime will sound an alert. You can customize the melody for each doorbell through the Arlo app.

4.2 Motion and Sound Alerts

The Arlo Chime can be configured within the Arlo app to play a sound or trigger the siren based on motion detection or sound events from other compatible Arlo devices (e.g., Arlo cameras). This allows for home presence simulation or additional security alerts.

4.3 Volume Control and Silent Mode

You can adjust the volume of the chime alerts directly from the Arlo app. The app also provides a silent mode option, allowing you to temporarily disable audible alerts from the chime without affecting other system functions.

4.4 Smart Siren Functionality

The Arlo Chime includes an integrated 80+ decibel Smart Siren. This siren can be manually activated via the Arlo app or set to trigger automatically based on specific events, such as motion detection or unusual sounds picked up by your Arlo cameras.

5. Maintenance

The Arlo Chime is designed for low maintenance. To ensure optimal performance and longevity:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the exterior of the chime with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Environment: Ensure the chime is plugged into an indoor outlet and not exposed to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or moisture.
  • Firmware Updates: Keep your Arlo app and Arlo Base Station firmware updated to ensure compatibility and access to the latest features and security enhancements for your Arlo Chime.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Arlo Chime, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Chime is not sounding:
    • Ensure the Arlo Chime is properly plugged into a working wall outlet.
    • Verify that your Arlo Base Station is online and functioning correctly. The Chime requires a Base Station.
    • Check the Arlo app to ensure the chime's volume is not set to silent mode or a very low level.
    • Confirm that the Arlo Chime is correctly paired with your Arlo Audio Doorbell or other triggering devices within the Arlo app.
  • Difficulty pairing the Chime:
    • Ensure the chime is within range of your Arlo Base Station. Try plugging it into an outlet closer to the Base Station during the pairing process.
    • If pairing fails, try removing the chime from your Arlo account in the app and re-adding it. Sometimes, re-installing the associated doorbell device first can help.
    • Restart your Arlo Base Station and the Arlo Chime by unplugging them for 30 seconds and then plugging them back in.
  • Siren is not loud enough:
    • Adjust the siren volume settings within the Arlo app.
    • Consider adding additional Arlo Chimes in other areas of your home for broader sound coverage.
  • Delayed alerts:
    • Ensure your Arlo Base Station has a strong and stable internet connection.
    • Check the distance between the Arlo Chime and the Arlo Base Station. Excessive distance or interference can cause delays.
