Logitech Rally Mic Pod Instruction Manual

Model: 989-000430

1. Introduction

The Logitech Rally Mic Pod is designed to expand audio coverage for Logitech Rally, Rally Plus, Rally Bar, and Rally Bar Mini video conferencing systems. It features modular, beamforming microphones with RightSound technology to enhance voice clarity during conversations. This manual provides instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Rally Mic Pod.

2. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly set up your Logitech Rally Mic Pod:

  1. Placement: Position the Mic Pod on a flat surface in your conference room. For optimal audio capture, ensure it is centrally located relative to participants.
  2. Connection: Connect the Mic Pod to your Logitech Rally system using the integrated cable. The Mic Pod connects directly to the Rally system or to another Mic Pod in a daisy-chain configuration.
  3. Daisy-Chaining: Multiple Mic Pods can be connected in a series to extend audio coverage in larger rooms. Ensure each connection is secure.
  4. Optional Accessories: For larger installations or specific room layouts, consider using the optional Rally Mic Pod Hub or 10-meter Rally Mic Pod Extension Cable (sold separately).
  5. Cable Management: Utilize the integrated cable management features for a clean and organized installation, especially if using optional Mic Pod Mounts for table or ceiling installation.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Rally Mic Pod, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the exterior of the Mic Pod. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays, as these can damage the device.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check the integrated cable for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. If damage is observed, discontinue use and contact support.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the Mic Pod within recommended temperature and humidity ranges. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or excessive moisture.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the Mic Pod in a clean, dry environment.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Logitech Rally Mic Pod, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Audio Pickup:
    • Ensure the Mic Pod is securely connected to the Rally system or another Mic Pod.
    • Verify the Mic Pod is not muted (check the indicator light for red).
    • Confirm that the Rally system's audio input settings are correctly configured to recognize the Mic Pod.
    • Check the distance from participants; while RightSound is effective, extreme distances may reduce pickup quality.
  • Mute Button Not Responding:
    • Disconnect and reconnect the Mic Pod.
    • Ensure the Rally system firmware is up to date.
  • Indicator Light Not Functioning:
    • Check all cable connections.
    • If the issue persists, contact Logitech support.
  • Poor Audio Quality (Echo, Distortion):
    • Ensure the Mic Pod is placed on a stable surface and not obstructed.
    • Verify that there are no other conflicting audio devices or software settings causing interference.
    • Consult the Logitech Rally system's main manual for advanced audio settings.
