6.3 Battery Life
The earbuds provide up to 4 hours of continuous playback. The charging case holds an additional 20 hours of charge, totaling up to 24 hours of combined playback. A 15-minute quick charge in the case provides approximately 1 hour of music playback.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning
Regularly clean your earbuds and charging case to ensure optimal performance and hygiene. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surfaces. For ear tips and gel sleeves, remove them from the earbuds and clean with a mild soap solution, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before reattaching.
7.2 Storage
When not in use, always store the earbuds in their charging case to protect them and keep them charged. Store the case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7.3 Water Resistance
The JBL Free X earbuds are IPX5 certified splashproof. This means they are resistant to water splashes from any direction. They are not designed for submersion in water. Ensure the charging port is dry before charging.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your JBL Free X headphones, refer to the following common solutions:
| Problem | Possible Solution |
|---|---|
| Earbuds not pairing | Ensure both earbuds are removed from the case. Check your device's Bluetooth settings and forget/remove "JBL Free X" if previously paired, then attempt to pair again. Ensure earbuds are charged. |
| Only one earbud playing audio | Place both earbuds back into the charging case, close the lid, wait a few seconds, then remove them. This often re-syncs them. Check device's audio balance settings. |
| No sound | Check volume levels on both the earbuds and your connected device. Ensure earbuds are properly paired and charged. |
| Charging case not charging | Verify the micro USB cable is securely connected to both the case and the power source. Try a different USB cable or power adapter. |
| Poor sound quality | Ensure ear tips and gel sleeves provide a snug fit. Clean the ear tips and speaker grilles. Move closer to your connected device to avoid interference. |
