2. Transmitter Placement

For optimal performance, place the transmitter on a flat surface, ideally 3 to 5 feet above the ground. Ensure it is pointed towards the seating area where the IR headphones will be used. It is crucial to maintain a clear line of sight between the transmitter and the headphones; avoid any obstacles. Do not cover the headphones with your hands during use as this can block the IR signal.

3. Powering Up the Transmitter

Connect the appropriate power adapter (home AC adapter or car cigarette lighter adapter) to the DC 12V input port on the transmitter. Once connected, slide the "OFF/ON" switch to the "ON" position. The indicator lights on the front of the transmitter will illuminate, indicating it is powered on and ready for use.

4. Connecting to TV

The SIMOLIO SM-264D offers multiple connection options for your TV:

Optical Connection (Recommended for Smart TVs)

Use the included optical audio cable. Connect one end to the "OPTICAL IN" port on the transmitter and the other end to the "DIGITAL OPTICAL AUDIO OUT" port on your TV. For smart TVs, ensure the TV's audio format is set to PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) in the sound settings. This setting is crucial for proper audio transmission via optical cable. TV sound settings may vary by brand and model.

3.5mm AUX Connection

Use the included 3.5mm AUX cable. Connect one end to the "AUDIO IN" port on the transmitter and the other end to the headphone jack (3.5mm audio out) on your TV. Set your TV's sound output to "Headset" or "Headphone" in the audio settings.

RCA Connection

Use the included RCA to 3.5mm audio cable. Connect the 3.5mm end to the "AUDIO IN" port on the transmitter. Connect the red and white RCA plugs to the corresponding "AUDIO OUT" RCA jacks on your TV. Set your TV's sound output to "External Speaker" in the audio settings.

5. Connecting to Projector

To use the transmitter with a projector for a home theater experience, connect the transmitter to the projector's headphone jack or audio out port using the 3.5mm AUX cable. Ensure the projector's audio output is active.

6. Channel Setting

The SM-264D transmitter supports dual channels (Channel A and Channel B). For optimal performance, slide the "CHANNEL" switch on the transmitter to either A or B. It is essential that your IR headphones are set to the same channel as the transmitter for them to connect and receive audio. The IR frequencies are: Channel A: L: 2.3MHz, R: 2.8MHz; Channel B: L: 3.2MHz, R: 3.8MHz.

Operating the Transmitter

Using in Car

The SM-264D can be used in a car environment with your car's DVD player or other audio sources. Power the transmitter using the included car cigarette lighter adapter.

Important Note for Car DVD Systems: If your car DVD has a built-in IR sensor, it is recommended to turn off the factory DVD's IR sensor first to avoid interference. If your car DVD does not have built-in IR sensors, this step is not necessary.

Car Connection Options:

  • 3.5mm AUX Connection: Connect the transmitter's "AUDIO IN" port to the AUX or headphone jack on your car DVD player using the 3.5mm AUX cable.
  • RCA Connection: Connect the transmitter's "AUDIO IN" port (via the 3.5mm end of the RCA cable) to the RCA audio output jacks on your car DVD player.

Dual Channel Operation (Car)

For scenarios where two different movies are being watched in the same row (e.g., two separate car DVD players), you will need two transmitters. Connect one transmitter to the first DVD player and set it to Channel A. Connect the second transmitter to the second DVD player and set it to Channel B. Ensure the headphones used by each viewer are set to the corresponding channel (A or B) to receive the correct audio feed.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your SIMOLIO SM-264D transmitter:

  • Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Store the transmitter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the transmitter to prevent overheating.

Troubleshooting

  • No Audio or Intermittent Sound:
    • Ensure the transmitter is powered on and its indicator lights are active.
    • Verify that the audio source (TV, DVD, PC) volume is set to a sufficient level. Low source volume can lead to inconsistent audio signals or cut-outs.
    • Check all cable connections to ensure they are secure and correctly plugged into the appropriate input/output ports.
    • Confirm that the IR headphones are powered on and set to the same channel (A or B) as the transmitter.
    • Ensure there are no physical obstacles blocking the line of sight between the transmitter and the headphones.
    • If using optical connection, confirm your TV's digital audio output format is set to PCM.
    • If using in a car, ensure the factory car DVD's IR sensor is turned off if applicable.
  • Poor Sound Quality/Static:
    • Check the distance between the transmitter and headphones. While effective range is up to 30 feet, environmental factors can affect signal quality.
    • Ensure no strong light sources (like direct sunlight) are interfering with the IR signal.
    • Verify that the audio source's volume is not too high, which could cause distortion.
  • Headphones Not Connecting:
    • Double-check that both the transmitter and headphones are set to the same channel (A or B).
    • Ensure the headphones have fresh batteries.
