2. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before operating the Vici VC60B+ meter. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or damage to the meter or the equipment under test.
- Always ensure the meter is in good working condition before use. Inspect test leads for damage.
- Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or if the battery compartment is not securely closed.
- Observe all safety precautions when working with high voltages. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Do not apply voltage to the meter that exceeds the maximum rated input.
- Disconnect power to the circuit under test before making connections for resistance or continuity measurements.
- Be cautious when discharging capacitive circuits after insulation testing.
- Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.
- Do not operate the meter in explosive atmospheres or in the presence of flammable gases or dust.
3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The VC60B+ operates on 6 x 1.5V AA batteries or an external DC 9V power source. Batteries are not included with delivery.
- Ensure the meter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the meter.
- Open the battery compartment cover by sliding or unscrewing it.
- Insert 6 AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Securely close the battery compartment cover.

3.2 Connecting Test Leads
Connect the test leads to the appropriate input terminals on the meter for the desired measurement function.

- For Insulation Resistance, connect the red lead to the V/Ω/MΩ terminal and the black lead to the COM terminal.
- For DCV/ACV measurements, connect the red lead to the V/Ω/MΩ terminal and the black lead to the COM terminal.
- For Resistance/Continuity, connect the red lead to the V/Ω/MΩ terminal and the black lead to the COM terminal.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
Turn the rotary switch to any desired function to power on the meter. Turn it to the "OFF" position to power off.
4.2 Insulation Resistance Measurement
The VC60B+ offers insulation resistance testing at 250V, 500V, and 1000V.
- Connect the test leads to the circuit under test. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.
- Turn the rotary switch to the desired insulation test voltage (250V, 500V, or 1000V).
- Press and hold the "PRESS TO TEST" button to initiate the test. The display will show the insulation resistance value.
- Release the button to stop the test. The meter will automatically discharge the circuit.
- If a shortcut resistance occurs (less than 50Ω ± 10Ω), the meter will sound an alarm and the display will return to zero, preventing damage.
4.3 DC Voltage Measurement (DCV)
- Turn the rotary switch to the "DCV" position.
- Connect the test leads across the DC voltage source.
- Read the voltage value on the LCD display.
4.4 AC Voltage Measurement (ACV)
- Turn the rotary switch to the "ACV" position.
- Connect the test leads across the AC voltage source.
- Read the voltage value on the LCD display.
4.5 Resistance Measurement
- Turn the rotary switch to the "Ω" position.
- Ensure the circuit under test is de-energized.
- Connect the test leads across the component or circuit to measure resistance.
- Read the resistance value on the LCD display.
4.6 Continuity Test
- Turn the rotary switch to the "Ω" position.
- Ensure the circuit under test is de-energized.
- Connect the test leads across the circuit or component.
- If the resistance is less than approximately 50Ω ± 10Ω, the continuity alarm will sound.
4.7 Data Hold Function
Press the "HOLD" button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release the hold function.
4.8 LCD Backlight
The LCD backlight illuminates for approximately 10 seconds when activated, improving visibility in low-light conditions.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter's casing with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is dry before storage or use.
5.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indication appears on the display, replace all 6 AA batteries promptly to ensure accurate measurements and proper operation. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery installation instructions.
5.3 Storage
If the meter is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
