1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

  • Always use genuine Dräger mouthpieces to ensure hygienic and accurate operation.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the rear of the device.
  2. Open the cover and insert three (3) AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Attaching the Mouthpiece

  1. Remove a fresh, non-contact funnel mouthpiece from its packaging.
  2. Gently push the mouthpiece onto the designated opening at the top of the device until it clicks into place. Ensure it is firmly seated.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Press the OK button. The device will perform a self-test and then display 'READY'.
  • To power off: Press and hold the OK button until the display turns off. The device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity.

6.2 Performing a Test

  1. Ensure the device is powered on and displays 'READY'.
  2. Instruct the test subject to take a deep breath and then blow steadily into the non-contact funnel mouthpiece until a signal indicates the end of the breath sample. Maintain a distance to avoid direct contact with the mouthpiece.
  3. The device will analyze the breath sample.

6.3 Interpreting Results

The device will display one of two results:

  • '0.00' or 'NO ALCOHOL': Indicates no alcohol detected.
  • 'ALCOHOL DETECTED' or 'X': Indicates the presence of alcohol.

6.4 Mouthpiece Exchange

For hygienic reasons, it is recommended to replace the mouthpiece after each test or as required by your screening protocol.

  1. Grasp the used mouthpiece and pull it gently but firmly away from the device.
  2. Dispose of the used mouthpiece responsibly.
  3. Attach a new, clean mouthpiece as described in Section 5.2.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure no liquid enters the mouthpiece opening or other device apertures.

7.2 Storage

  • Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
