3.3 Attaching a Camera Head

The RT80C tripod supports two main configurations for attaching a camera head:

  1. Normal State (Flat Plate): The tripod comes with a standard flat mounting plate (80mm diameter) with a 3/8" screw. Attach your ball head or fluid head directly to this plate by screwing it onto the 3/8" stud. Ensure it is securely tightened.
  2. Quick Leveling State (75mm Bowl Adapter): For fluid heads that require a leveling base, remove the flat plate and insert the provided 75mm bowl adapter. Secure the bowl adapter in place. Then, mount your compatible fluid head onto the bowl adapter.

  1. Press the spring buckle located at the top of the leg hinge.
  2. Move the leg to the desired angle position until it locks into place.
  3. Ensure all legs are securely locked at their chosen angles before mounting equipment.

4.2 Using Interchangeable Spikes

The RT80C tripod includes both rubber feet and stainless steel spikes to provide optimal stability on different surfaces.

  • Rubber Feet: Ideal for indoor use or delicate surfaces to prevent scratches and provide grip.
  • Stainless Steel Spikes: Recommended for outdoor use on soft ground, grass, sand, or ice to provide enhanced grip and stability.

To change the spikes, simply unscrew the current foot/spike and screw in the desired one. Ensure they are tightened securely.

4.3 Leveling the Tripod

Use the integrated bubble spirit level on the tripod's main body to ensure your setup is perfectly level. Adjust the leg lengths or the bowl adapter (if used) until the bubble is centered.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the lifespan of your INNOREL RT80C tripod.

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in dusty, sandy, or wet environments, wipe down the tripod with a clean, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution. Ensure all parts are thoroughly dried before storage.
  • Leg Locks: Periodically clean the twist locks to prevent sand or grit from interfering with their operation. If they become stiff, a small amount of silicone lubricant can be applied, but avoid oil-based lubricants.
  • Storage: Store the tripod in its carrying bag in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Regularly check all screws and connections for tightness. Use the provided Allen keys to tighten any loose parts.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Tripod Legs Not Extending/Retracting Smoothly

  • Issue: Leg sections feel stiff or gritty when extending or retracting.
  • Solution: This is often caused by dirt, sand, or dust inside the leg locks. Fully extend the legs, clean the twist locks and leg sections thoroughly with a damp cloth, and allow them to dry. If necessary, disassemble the leg sections (refer to advanced maintenance guides or contact support) to clean the internal shims.

6.2 Bowl Adapter Sticking or Not Leveling Smoothly

  • Issue: The 75mm bowl adapter does not move smoothly within its socket or gets stuck.
  • Solution: Ensure the locking knob for the bowl adapter is fully loosened. Clean the surfaces of the bowl and the adapter with a clean, dry cloth to remove any debris. If the issue persists, the mating surfaces may require light lubrication with a dry film lubricant or a very fine polish.

6.3 Instability or Wobble

  • Issue: The tripod feels unstable or exhibits wobble during use.
  • Solution:
    1. Ensure all leg twist locks are fully tightened.
    2. Verify that all leg angle locks are securely engaged.
    3. Check that the camera head is firmly attached to the mounting plate or bowl adapter.
    4. Ensure the camera or lens is properly balanced on the head.
    5. On uneven ground, adjust leg lengths and angles to achieve maximum stability. Use stainless steel spikes on soft ground.
