3. Operating Instructions
The Smoby Wooden Fun Scooter features an intuitive steering system and a reliable foot brake.
3.1 Riding the Scooter
- Place one foot firmly on the wooden deck, ensuring it is centered and stable. The deck features a non-slip coating for improved grip.
- Use the other foot to push off the ground, gaining momentum.
- Once moving, place both feet on the deck, one behind the other, or side-by-side if comfortable.
3.2 Steering
This scooter uses an intuitive lean-to-steer mechanism. To turn, gently lean your body in the desired direction (left or right). The handlebars will follow the direction of your lean, guiding the front wheels.
3.3 Braking
The scooter is equipped with a foot brake located over the rear wheel.
- To slow down or stop, gently press your heel down on the rear fender, which acts as the foot brake.
- Apply steady pressure to achieve a controlled stop. Avoid sudden, forceful braking, especially at high speeds, to prevent loss of balance.

4. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Smoby Wooden Fun Scooter.
- Cleaning: Wipe the scooter clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
- Component Check: Periodically inspect all screws, bolts, and fasteners to ensure they are tight. Retighten if necessary.
- Wheel Inspection: Check the wheels for wear and tear. Ensure they spin freely and are not obstructed by debris.
- Brake Functionality: Regularly test the foot brake to ensure it is responsive and effective.
- Storage: Store the scooter in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The scooter can be folded for compact storage.
5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your scooter, refer to the following common solutions:
- Scooter does not steer easily: This scooter uses a lean-to-steer mechanism. Ensure the user is leaning their body to initiate turns, rather than just turning the handlebars. Practice leaning gently to get accustomed to the steering.
- Handlebar feels loose: Check the quick-release clamp on the handlebar stem. Ensure it is fully closed and tightened. If it still feels loose, inspect for any damage to the clamping mechanism.
- Brake is not effective: Ensure the rear fender brake is clean and free of debris. Check if the brake mechanism is worn or damaged. If the issue persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
- Unusual noises during operation: Stop using the scooter immediately. Inspect all wheels, bearings, and fasteners for any loose or damaged parts.
