3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your Intex pool cleaning equipment:
3.1 Automatic Surface Skimmer Installation
- Ensure your Intex filter pump has a minimum flow rate of 800 GPH (3,028 L/hr). The skimmer requires this flow rate to operate effectively.
- Attach the automatic surface skimmer to the sidewall of your Easy Set or metal frame pool using the adjustable bracket.
- Connect the skimmer to the suction side of your filter pump. This allows the pump to draw water through the skimmer, capturing floating debris.

3.2 Assembling Maintenance Tools
- Extend the 110-inch telescoping aluminum pole to your desired length.
- Attach the appropriate cleaning head (vacuum, leaf rake, or wall brush) to the end of the telescoping pole. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
- For the deluxe vacuum head, connect the 24ft 7in hose to the vacuum head and then to the outlet connector of your pool's filter pump.
4. Operation
Utilize the various tools in your kit for effective pool cleaning:
4.1 Surface Skimming
The automatic surface skimmer continuously removes floating debris such as leaves and insects from the water surface, preventing them from sinking to the bottom. For manual removal of larger debris or concentrated areas, use the leaf rake with the deep skimmer net attached to the telescoping pole.

4.2 Pool Vacuuming
The deluxe vacuum head is used to clean the pool floor. Connect the vacuum head to the telescoping pole and the 24-foot hose to your filter pump's suction inlet. The filter pump will draw water and debris through the vacuum head, collecting it in the reusable bag or sending it to your filter system, depending on the vacuum head type. Move the vacuum head slowly across the pool floor to pick up dirt and sediment.

4.3 Wall Brushing
Attach the curved wall brush head to the telescoping pole. Systematically brush the pool walls and floor to dislodge algae and dirt, allowing your filter system to capture them. Pay special attention to corners and areas with less water circulation.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your pool cleaning kit:
5.1 Cleaning the Skimmer Basket
The automatic surface skimmer features an easy-to-clean strainer basket. Periodically remove the basket from the skimmer body and empty any collected debris. Rinse the basket thoroughly with a garden hose to remove fine particles before reinserting it.

5.2 Cleaning Vacuum Bags/Filters
If your vacuum head utilizes a reusable debris bag, empty and rinse it after each use. For vacuum systems that direct debris to your main pool filter, ensure your filter is regularly backwashed or cleaned according to your filter pump's instructions.
5.3 Tool Storage
After each use, rinse all components with fresh water and allow them to air dry completely before storing. Store the telescoping pole and attachments in a dry, shaded area to prevent sun damage and prolong their lifespan.
6. Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:
- Low Suction from Vacuum Head:
- Ensure your filter pump meets the minimum flow rate requirement (800 GPH).
- Check the vacuum hose for kinks or blockages.
- Clean the reusable debris bag or backwash/clean your pool's main filter.
- Verify all connections are tight to prevent air leaks.
- Skimmer Not Collecting Debris Effectively:
- Check if the skimmer basket is full and needs emptying.
- Ensure the skimmer is properly connected to the filter pump and there are no air leaks.
- Confirm your filter pump is running and providing adequate flow.
- If fine debris passes through, consider adding a fine mesh bag over the skimmer basket.
- Vacuum Head Detaches from Pole:
- Ensure the attachment mechanism is fully engaged and locked.
- Apply firm pressure when attaching to ensure a secure fit.
- Missing or Damaged Parts:
- Carefully check all packaging for smaller components.
- Contact Intex customer support for replacement parts or warranty claims.
