3. Setup and Installation

Before first use, ensure the grill is properly set up.

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the grill from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or shipping.

4. Operating Instructions

The Avantco P85S features dual thermostatic controls, allowing independent operation of each grilling section.

  1. Power On: Ensure the grill is plugged into a suitable 120V outlet.
  2. Temperature Setting: Each side of the grill has its own temperature control knob. Turn the desired knob clockwise to set the temperature between 120°F and 570°F (49°C - 299°C). The indicator light will illuminate, indicating that the heating element is active.
  3. Preheating: Allow the grill to preheat for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until the indicator light turns off, signaling that the set temperature has been reached.
  4. Cooking:
    • Carefully place your food item onto the bottom grill plate.
    • Lower the top grill plate using the insulated handle. The specialized hinges allow the top plate to lay flat against the food, ensuring complete contact and uniform cooking.
    • Cook until desired doneness is achieved. Cooking times will vary based on food type, thickness, and desired browning.
  5. Removing Food: Use heat-resistant utensils to remove cooked food from the grill. Avoid using metal utensils that could scratch the non-stick surface.
  6. Power Off: After use, turn both temperature control knobs counter-clockwise to the "OFF" position. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet.

Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your Avantco P85S grill.

  1. Cool Down: Always allow the grill to cool completely before cleaning.

  3. Grill Plates:
    • For light cleaning, wipe the grill plates with a damp cloth or sponge.
    • For stubborn food residues, use a plastic scraper or a stiff brush designed for non-stick surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners, steel wool, or metal scouring pads, as these can damage the plates.
    • A small amount of cooking oil can be applied to the plates after cleaning to season them and prevent sticking.
  4. Exterior: Wipe the stainless steel exterior with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Dry thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water spots.
  5. Storage: When not in use for extended periods, ensure the grill is clean and dry. Store it in a cool, dry place.
