Setup and Installation
Engine Signal Connection
The tachometer function relies on an inductive signal from the engine's spark plug wire. Wrap the signal wire around the spark plug wire as shown in the diagram below. Ensure a secure connection for accurate readings.

Figure 2: Engine signal connection. The inductive wire should be wrapped around the spark plug wire. The wire length is approximately 1.75 meters (68.8 inches).
Product Mounting Options
The Runleader tachometer offers multiple mounting options to suit various applications:

Stick-on Mounting: Utilizes double-sided adhesive tape for quick and easy attachment to a flat surface. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application.

Screw-on Mounting: For a more permanent and secure installation, the device can be screwed onto a surface using appropriate fasteners (not included, need to prepare by self). The device has pre-drilled holes for this purpose.

Snap-in Mounting: Designed to snap into a pre-cut opening for a flush, integrated look. This method requires precise cutting of the mounting surface (need to prepare by self).
Operating Instructions
RPM and Total Hours (TOT) Display

Figure 3: RPM display when engine is running.
When the engine is running, the device displays real-time RPM. It also records and allows recall of the maximum RPM value achieved since the engine started.

Figure 4: TOT (Total Hours) display when engine is off.
When the engine is off, the device displays the total accumulated running hours (TOT). This value is non-resettable and provides a permanent record of engine usage.
Job Timer Function
The Job Timer records the hours accumulated during a single working period. This timer can be reset for each new task.

Maintenance Reminders (SVC1 & SVC2)
The device includes two programmable service timers (SVC1 and SVC2) to help you track and schedule regular maintenance for different engine components. These timers count down from a set value, alerting you when service is due.

Figure 6: SVC Maintenance Reminders. The display shows the remaining time until the next scheduled service.
Refer to the full operating instructions (usually included in the physical package) for details on how to program and reset these maintenance reminders.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance of your engine is crucial for its longevity and performance. Utilize the SVC maintenance reminders to keep track of service intervals for oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug checks, and other routine tasks. Always consult your engine's specific service manual for recommended maintenance schedules.
The Runleader tachometer itself requires minimal maintenance. Keep the display clean and free from debris. Its IP67 waterproof rating ensures durability in various environmental conditions.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Runleader Digital Hour Meter Tachometer, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Display/Power: Ensure the internal battery is functional. The device is designed for long battery life, but extreme temperatures or prolonged storage can affect it.
- Inaccurate RPM Readings: Check the inductive wire connection to the spark plug wire. Ensure it is wrapped securely and not damaged. Interference from other electrical components can also affect readings; try re-routing the wire if possible.
- Job Timer Not Resetting: Confirm you are pressing and holding the "SELECT" button for the required duration (typically a few seconds) to initiate the reset.
- Display Issues: If the display is dim or flickering, it might indicate a low internal battery.
For persistent issues or advanced troubleshooting, please refer to the detailed user manual included with your product or contact Runleader customer support.
