5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Main Unit

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the main unit.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert 4 x AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover securely.

5.2 Powering the Wireless Sensor

  1. Unscrew the cap of the wireless sensor to access the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the included 3V CR-2032 button cell battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  3. Securely screw the cap back onto the sensor, ensuring a watertight seal.

5.3 Attaching the External Antenna

  1. Locate the antenna port on the top of the main unit.
  2. Gently screw the external antenna into the port until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually marked with a power symbol) on the main unit until the display illuminates.
  • Power Off: Press and hold the power button again until the unit shuts down.

6.2 Deploying the Wireless Sensor

The wireless sensor is designed to float on the water surface and transmit sonar data to the main unit.

  1. Ensure the sensor cap is securely tightened to prevent water ingress.
  2. Tie the sensor to your fishing line or a suitable floatation device. The sensor can be cast out or deployed from a boat.
  3. Once the sensor is in the water, it will automatically activate and begin transmitting data to the main unit.

6.3 Understanding the Display

The LCD display provides real-time information about the underwater environment:

  • Depth Reading: Shows the current water depth.
  • Water Temperature: Displays the water temperature.
  • Fish Icons: Indicates the presence of fish, often categorized by size (small, large, or groups).
  • Bottom Contour: Illustrates the shape and composition of the seabed (e.g., grass, sand, rock).
  • Battery Indicator: Shows the battery level of both the main unit and the wireless sensor.
  • Signal Strength: Displays the wireless signal strength between the main unit and the sensor.

6.4 Language Settings

To change the display language:

  1. Press the 'MENU' button to access the main menu.
  2. Navigate to the 'Language' option using the arrow buttons.
  3. Select your desired language (English, Russian, or German) and confirm.

6.5 Adjusting Settings

Use the 'MENU' button and arrow keys to navigate and adjust various settings:

  • Sensitivity: Adjusts the level of detail shown on the display. Higher sensitivity shows more detail but may also show more noise.
  • Chart Speed: Controls how fast the sonar history scrolls across the screen.
  • Depth Range: Manually set the maximum depth displayed. The unit also has an auto-range function.
  • Fish Alarm: Activates an audible alert when fish are detected.
  • Depth Alarm: Sets an alarm to sound when the depth falls below a specified value.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the wireless sensor and main unit with fresh water. Wipe them dry with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the main unit and the wireless sensor when the low battery indicator appears or performance degrades. Ensure the sensor cap is tightly sealed after battery replacement.
  • Storage: Store the fish finder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, remove all batteries to prevent leakage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Display/Unit Won't Turn On: Check main unit batteries. Ensure they are inserted correctly and are not depleted.
  • No Sonar Reading/No Fish Detected:
    • Ensure the wireless sensor is in water and its battery is not depleted.
    • Check the wireless signal strength on the main unit. Move closer to the sensor if the signal is weak.
    • Verify the sensor cap is securely tightened.
    • Adjust sensitivity settings.
  • Inaccurate Depth Readings: Ensure the sensor is floating freely and not obstructed by weeds or debris.
  • Interference on Display: Try adjusting the sensitivity or moving away from other electronic devices that might cause interference.
