3. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure your bicycle is stable and secure. You may need basic bicycle tools such as hex keys and cable cutters.

  1. Remove Old Lever (if applicable): If replacing an existing lever, carefully disconnect the old cable from the seat post and remove the old lever from the handlebars.
  2. Mount the New Lever: Position the XLC SP-X06 Remotelock Lever on your handlebars in a comfortable and accessible location. Typically, this is on the left side, below the handlebar. Secure it using the appropriate clamp bolt, ensuring it is tight enough to prevent rotation but not overtightened.
  3. Route the Cable Housing: Route the provided cable housing from the lever along your handlebars and frame to the seat post. Ensure the housing follows natural lines, avoids sharp bends, and does not interfere with steering or other controls. Use zip ties or frame guides to secure the housing.
  4. Install the Inner Cable: Insert the inner cable through the lever mechanism and then through the routed cable housing.
  5. Connect to Seat Post: Connect the inner cable to the actuation mechanism of your XLC All MTN telescopic seat post (SP-T10 or SP-T12) according to the seat post's specific instructions. Ensure the cable is properly seated and secured.
  6. Adjust Cable Tension: With the cable connected, check the lever's action. If the seat post does not actuate smoothly or fully, adjust the cable tension using the barrel adjuster on the lever or at the seat post, if available. The lever should have a firm, responsive feel.
  7. Trim Excess Cable: Once tension is set, trim any excess inner cable, leaving approximately 2-3 cm. Crimp an end cap onto the trimmed cable end to prevent fraying.
  8. Final Check: Test the dropper post repeatedly to ensure smooth operation and full travel. Check that the lever does not interfere with braking or shifting.

4. Operating Instructions

The XLC SP-X06 Remotelock Lever provides intuitive control over your compatible XLC telescopic seat post.

  • To Lower the Seat Post: While seated on the saddle, press the lever firmly. The seat post will begin to lower. Release the lever when the desired height is reached.
  • To Raise the Seat Post: Press the lever firmly and unweight the saddle. The seat post will extend to its full height. Release the lever once fully extended.
  • Intermediate Positions: The XLC SP-T10/T12 seat posts are typically infinitely adjustable. You can stop the post at any point in its travel by releasing the lever at the desired height.

Always ensure you are in a safe environment before operating your dropper post, especially when riding.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your XLC SP-X06 Remotelock Lever.

  • Cable and Housing Inspection: Periodically inspect the inner cable and outer housing for signs of wear, fraying, kinks, or corrosion. Replace them if any damage is observed. A damaged cable or housing can lead to sluggish or non-functional operation.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of light lubricant to the inner cable where it enters the housing and at the lever pivot points. Avoid over-lubrication, which can attract dirt.
  • Cleaning: Keep the lever and surrounding handlebar area clean. Wipe away dirt and grime with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Tension Check: Regularly check the cable tension. If the lever feels loose or the seat post is slow to react, adjust the tension as described in the "Setup and Installation" section.
  • Spring Replacement: The lever includes a spare spring. If the lever's return action becomes weak or fails, the spring may need replacement. Consult a qualified bicycle mechanic if you are unsure about this procedure.
