1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Xerox WorkCentre 7435 Color Multifunction Copier. 2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove the copier from its packaging. Ensure all packing materials and protective tapes are removed. Place the copier on a sturdy, level surface capable of supporting its weight. Allow adequate space around the unit for ventilation and access to trays and connections.

2.2 Connecting Power and Network

  1. Connect the power cord to the copier's power inlet and then to a grounded electrical outlet.
  2. For network connectivity, connect an Ethernet cable from the copier's Ethernet port to your network router or switch.
  3. For direct connection, use a USB 2.0 cable to connect the copier to your computer.

2.3 Loading Paper

The WorkCentre 7435 features multiple paper trays. To load paper:

  1. Pull out the desired paper tray until it stops.
  2. Adjust the paper guides to the size of the paper you are loading.
  3. Load the paper stack, ensuring it is flat and does not exceed the maximum fill line.
  4. Gently push the tray back into the copier until it clicks into place.

2.4 Installing Toner Cartridges

The copier uses four toner cartridges: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. Refer to the labels on the copier for the correct slot for each color.

  1. Open the front cover of the copier.
  2. Locate the empty toner cartridge slot.
  3. Unpack the new toner cartridge and gently shake it horizontally a few times to distribute the toner.
  4. Insert the cartridge firmly into its designated slot until it locks into place.
  5. Close the front cover.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Control Panel Overview

The control panel features a touchscreen display and various buttons for navigating functions and settings. Familiarize yourself with the main menu options for Copy, Print, and Scan.

3.2 Copying Documents

  1. Place your original document face-up in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or face-down on the scanner glass.
  2. On the control panel, select the Copy function.
  3. Adjust settings such as number of copies, color/black & white, duplex, and paper tray selection.
  4. Press the Start button to begin copying.

3.3 Printing Documents

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning Procedures

Regular cleaning helps maintain optimal performance and print quality.

  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Scanner Glass: Clean the scanner glass and the underside of the ADF cover with a glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
  • ADF Rollers: Periodically clean the ADF rollers with a damp cloth to prevent paper feeding issues.

4.2 Toner Cartridge Replacement

When a toner cartridge is low or empty, the control panel will display a message. Replace cartridges as described in Section 2.4. Dispose of used cartridges according to local regulations.

4.3 Clearing Paper Jams

If a paper jam occurs, the control panel will indicate the location of the jam. Follow the on-screen instructions or these general steps:

  1. Open the indicated covers or trays.
  2. Carefully remove any jammed paper, pulling in the direction of the paper path to avoid tearing.

  4. Close all covers and trays securely.
