2. Setup

2.1 Connecting the Base Station

  1. Connect the telephone cable to the TEL socket on the base station and to your telephone wall socket or router.
  2. Connect the power adapter to the 230V socket on the base station and plug it into a power outlet.
  3. Place the base station on a flat, non-slip surface, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Ensure it is not near other electronic devices that could cause interference.

2.2 Inserting Batteries and Initial Charging

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset.
  2. Insert the two supplied AAA rechargeable batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.
  4. Place each handset into its respective charging cradle. The display will show a charging indicator.
  5. Allow the handsets to charge for approximately 8-10 hours before initial use to ensure optimal battery performance.

2.3 Handset Registration

Your handsets are typically pre-registered to the base station. If a handset is not registered (e.g., "Base not found" message), follow these steps:

  1. On the handset, navigate to Menu > Settings > Registration > Register Handset.
  2. Enter the system PIN (default is 0000).
  3. On the base station, press and hold the Registration/Paging button for approximately 3 seconds. The base station will enter registration mode.
  4. The handset will display a confirmation message once registration is successful.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Making and Receiving Calls

  • Making a Call: Enter the phone number and press the Green Call Key .
  • Answering a Call: When the phone rings, press the Green Call Key .
  • Ending a Call: Press the Red End Call Key .
  • Hands-free Calling: During a call, press the Hands-free Key 🔊 to activate or deactivate the speakerphone.

3.2 Answering Machine Functions

The Gigaset CL660A Duo features an integrated answering machine with up to 55 minutes of recording capacity.

  • Activating/Deactivating: Press the On/Off button on the base station or via the handset menu (Menu > Answering Machine).
  • Playing Messages: Press the Play button on the base station or select Play Messages from the handset menu.
  • Recording a Personal Greeting: Navigate to Menu > Answering Machine > Settings > Record Greeting on the handset.
  • Remote Access: You can access your answering machine remotely by calling your number from another phone and entering your remote access PIN.

3.3 Directory (Phonebook)

The phonebook can store up to 400 contacts, each with up to three numbers.
