2.2. Channel & Code Setting

Each intercom unit needs to be set to a specific channel and code for communication. This system supports 22 channels and 100 digital codes.

  1. Press the MENU button: The channel number on the left side of the screen will flash. Use the CH+/CH- buttons to set the desired channel.
  2. Click the MENU button again: The code number on the right side of the screen will flash. Use the CH+/CH- buttons to set the desired code.
  3. Complete Setting: Press MENU or TALK to exit the editing mode.
  4. Lock Channel & Code: After completing the setting, press and hold the MENU button until you hear a "Beep" sound to lock the Channel & Code. This prevents accidental changes. If the unit does not detect any operations within 1 minute, it will automatically restore to the original channel number.

2.3. Making an Address List

For systems with multiple intercom units, creating an address list is recommended to keep track of which intercom belongs to which user or location. Assign a unique channel and code to each unit and record it.

2.4. Initial Test Connecting

Before full deployment, test the connection between units. Ensure intercoms are separated by at least 5 meters (approximately 16 feet) to prevent interference during testing.

  1. Set the Channel & Code number of the intercom you wish to communicate with on your unit.
  2. Press the CALL button on your unit. Check if the other unit rings successfully.
  3. Press and hold the TALK button to speak. The other unit should receive your voice message. After receiving a message, the other user can press and hold the TALK button to reply.

Note: Both units cannot press and hold the TALK button simultaneously. Only wait for one person to finish speaking and release the TALK button before the other person presses and holds the TALK button to reply.

3. Operating Instructions

The Wuloo WL888 intercom system offers several communication modes:

3.1. TALK Function (Push-to-Talk)

This is the primary communication method. To speak, press and hold the TALK button. Release the button to listen. Ensure the other unit is set to the same channel and code.

3.2. VOX Mode (Voice Operated Exchange)

In VOX mode, you can speak without pressing and holding the TALK button. This is convenient for hands-free communication.

  • Activation: Press the VOX button on your unit. The screen will display the VOX logo at the bottom.
  • Speaking: Approach the microphone (MIC) and make a voice to activate VOX mode. The indicator light will turn red, and the channel number key will flash. You can then start talking.
  • Time Limit: VOX mode has a 24-hour time limit. It will automatically exit this mode after 24 hours, and the VOX logo will disappear. To manually exit, press the VOX button again.

Note: When communicating in VOX mode, please wait for 3 seconds after the other person has finished speaking and their indicator light goes off. Then, you can approach the MIC to make a voice and activate VOX mode to reply. The unit cannot receive any message before the indicator light goes out.

3.3. MONITOR Mode

Monitor mode allows you to continuously listen to a specific room without needing to activate the intercom by voice.

  • Setup: Place the intercom unit in the room you wish to monitor (e.g., a baby's room).
  • Activation: Press the MONITOR button. The light on the device will turn red, and the unit enters the monitored state. The monitored unit will stay in transmit mode and cannot receive any information unless you exit this mode.
  • Time Limit: Monitor mode has a 10-hour time limit. If you need to monitor for a longer period, you'll need to reset it again every 10 hours.

Note: Keep the device as close to the person being monitored as possible to pick up the voice clearly. The monitoring side cannot send audio messages, even if you press and hold the TALK button. You can only hear the voice from the monitored room or change to another channel/code to speak with others.

3.4. GROUP Mode

The GROUP mode allows you to broadcast your message to all intercom stations within the system simultaneously, even if they are on different channels and codes.

  • Activation: Press and hold the GROUP button.
  • Speaking: Speak into the microphone while holding the GROUP button. Your message will be transmitted to all connected units.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Wuloo WL888 intercom system, please follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the units. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Storage: Store the units in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Water Resistance: The product is Not Water Resistant. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.
  • Power Supply: Always use the specified 5V 1A power adapter or a compatible power bank.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Wuloo WL888 intercom system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the intercom unit and a working electrical outlet.
    • If using a power bank, ensure it is charged and providing 5V 1A output.
    • Check the power switch on the unit (press and hold for 3 seconds to turn ON/OFF).
  • No Sound / Poor Sound Quality:
    • Verify that both communicating units are set to the same channel and code.
    • Adjust the volume using the VOL+/VOL- buttons.
    • Ensure you are pressing and holding the TALK button when speaking (unless in VOX mode).
    • If in VOX mode, ensure you are speaking close enough to the microphone to activate it.
    • Move units further apart (at least 5 meters) to avoid interference, especially during testing.
  • Units Not Connecting:
    • Double-check that all units intended for communication are on the exact same channel and code.
    • Ensure the channel and code are locked after setting (long press MENU button).
    • Verify that units are within the 1-mile signal range. Obstacles like thick walls or large metal structures can reduce range.
  • Interference:
    • Change to a different channel and code to avoid interference from other wireless devices.
    • Ensure units are not too close to each other (minimum 5 meters).
