Setup Instructions

1. Attaching the Desk Stand

Align the desk stand with the slots on the back of the phone console. Press firmly until it clicks into place. The stand allows for adjustable viewing angles.

2. Connecting the Handset

Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the back of the phone console. Ensure a secure connection.

3. Network and Power Connection

The VVX 450 supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), eliminating the need for a separate power adapter if your network switch provides PoE.

  • Ethernet Connection: Connect one end of the CAT-5E network cable to the LAN port on the back of the phone and the other end to your network switch or router.
  • PC Passthrough: If you need to connect a computer through the phone, use a second Ethernet cable to connect the PC port on the phone to your computer.
  • Power (if no PoE): If PoE is not available, connect an optional power adapter (sold separately) to the power port on the phone and then to a power outlet.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Phone Does Not Power On:
    • Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the LAN port and your network provides PoE.
    • If not using PoE, ensure the optional power adapter is correctly connected and plugged into a working outlet.
  • No Dial Tone or Cannot Make/Receive Calls:
    • Check network cable connections.
    • Ensure the phone has successfully registered with your VoIP service. The display should show an active line.
    • Contact your IT administrator or VoIP service provider for network or registration issues.
  • Poor Audio Quality (Echo, Static, Low Volume):
    • Adjust volume settings using the volume keys.
    • Ensure the handset cord is fully inserted.
    • Check for network congestion or interference.
    • If using a headset, ensure it is properly connected and functioning.
  • Speakerphone Not Working:
    • Ensure the speakerphone button is active.
    • Check the volume settings for the speakerphone.
    • If the issue persists, a hardware fault may be present.
  • Phone is Locked or Provisioned to Another Network:
    • Some phones may arrive pre-provisioned or locked to a specific service provider. A factory reset might be required, but this should only be performed under guidance from your IT administrator or service provider, as it may require re-provisioning.
    • Contact your vendor or IT support for assistance with re-provisioning.
