Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and proper assembly, installation, and use of your Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Spare Tire Mounted Carrier, Model 322DN. Please read all instructions and safety warnings carefully before using the rack.
The Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Spare Tire Mounted Carrier is designed to transport up to two bicycles, with a maximum load capacity of 70 pounds. Its patented design positions bikes high, away from the road and hot exhaust, and features individual tie-down cradles to secure and protect bicycles. The extra-wide bottom foot supports weight on the rear tire, not the rim. This carrier fits nearly all externally mounted spare tires, including the Wrangler JL with over-the-tire third brake lights.
Setup and Assembly
Before installation, ensure all components are present and undamaged. Refer to the official assembly video for visual guidance.

Assembly Steps:
- Unfold the Rack: Unfold the rack and lay it on its side with the carry arms perpendicular to the middle section.
- Install Setup Pins (Model 322DN): For Model 322DN, pull up on the setup pins to install them into the hole on the carry arm. Exercise caution to avoid pinching your fingers.
- Assemble the Bottom Foot: Pass the bottom strap bolts through the bottom foot.
- Tighten Nylon Insert Nuts: Use two 7/16-inch wrenches to tighten the nylon insert nuts. Ensure the threaded section of the bolts passes through the nylon insert on the nut. Do not overtighten; the foot should be able to rotate freely to allow it to fold flat for storage when not in use.

Installation on Vehicle
- Hook Top Foot: Hook the top foot carry arm assembly over the top of your vehicle's spare tire.
- Position Rack: Position the rack with the carry arms inclined slightly upwards.
- Secure Bottom Foot: The bottom foot assembly must be held against the tire in a fully extended position. It should only rest against the tire, never on the rim.
- Hook Bottom Straps: Hook the bottom hooks to a metal edge below the bumper or at the bottom of the rear door.
- Tighten Bottom Straps: Tighten the bottom straps by pulling on their free ends until the elastic portions of the straps are stretched and the rack is firmly in place.

Operating Instructions: Loading Bicycles
- Load First Bicycle: Load the first bicycle into the first tie-down position with its chain and gears facing away from the rack.
- Load Subsequent Bicycles: Load subsequent bicycles in alternate directions to optimize space and balance.
- Secure All Bikes: After all bikes are loaded, check that the entire rack is secure and that the rack is firmly in place.
- Lock Tie Straps: Lock down all tie straps to firmly hold the bicycles in place.
- Women's Style Frames: For women's style frames, place one carry arm under the front top tube. For the other carry arm, rotate the tie-down cradle and place the carry arm in the space behind the seat tube and below the rear downstay.
Maintenance
Regularly inspect all straps, bolts, and frame components for wear, damage, or looseness. Ensure all connections are secure before each use. Clean the rack with mild soap and water as needed. Store the rack in a dry place when not in use to prevent corrosion.
Troubleshooting
- Rack feels loose: Re-check all strap connections and ensure they are pulled taut. Verify the bottom foot is fully extended and resting against the tire, not the rim.
- Bikes are swaying: Ensure bicycles are loaded in alternating directions and all individual tie-down cradles are securely fastened around the bike frames. Consider using additional bungee cords or straps to further stabilize the bikes if necessary.
- Difficulty fitting bikes: Some bicycle frame designs, especially women's style or full-suspension bikes, may require a frame adapter bar (sold separately) for optimal fit and stability on the carrier arms.
