Setup
System Update
Ensure your Nintendo Switch system is updated to version 6.0.1 or later. Connect your Nintendo Switch to the internet. Navigate to System Settings from the HOME Menu, then scroll down to System to see the system update version and automatically check for updates.
Installing Batteries
The controller requires two (2) AA alkaline batteries for operation. For optimal performance, use new alkaline batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the controller.
- Open the battery door by sliding it downwards.
- Insert two fresh AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery door securely until it clicks into place.

Wireless Pairing
Follow these steps to pair your controller with your Nintendo Switch:
- Ensure your Nintendo Switch console is powered on.
- From the HOME Menu, select Controllers.
- Select Change Grip/Order.
- On the PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller, press and hold the SYNC Button (located on the top edge of the controller, between the shoulder buttons) for at least one second.
- The LED connection indicator on the controller will flash, signaling it is in pairing mode.
- Once the controller is paired, it will auto-connect next time the console is powered on and the controller is activated.
Operating Instructions
Basic Controls
The PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller features a standard button layout for intuitive gameplay:
- Two analog sticks for precise movement and camera control.
- A D-pad for directional input.
- A/B/X/Y action buttons.
- L/R shoulder buttons and ZL/ZR triggers.
- Plus (+) and Minus (-) buttons.
- HOME button and Capture button.

Advanced Gaming Buttons (AGB)
The controller includes two mappable Advanced Gaming Buttons (AGB) on the back, allowing you to assign functions for quick access during gameplay.
To Program an AGB:
- Hold the Program button (small button on the back, near the battery compartment) for 2-3 seconds. The LED connection indicator will slowly flash, signaling program mode.
- Press the button you wish to map (A, B, X, Y, L, R, ZL, ZR, D-pad, or any other standard button).
- Press the AGB (left or right) you want to assign the function to.
- The LED connection indicator will flash quickly to confirm the AGB has been programmed.
To Reset AGBs:
Press and hold the Program button for 5 seconds to clear all assigned functions from the AGBs.
LED Indicators
The controller features LED indicators to provide important status information:
- The LED near the SYNC button will flash red when the alkaline batteries are nearing depletion. Replace batteries promptly to avoid gameplay interruption.
- The Home/View buttons indicate player number (1-8) and will flash during the programming of Advanced Gaming Buttons.

Troubleshooting
Controller Not Pairing
- Confirm that fresh AA alkaline batteries are properly installed in the controller.
- Ensure your Nintendo Switch system is updated to the latest version (6.0.1 or later).

- Remove and replace the alkaline batteries to perform a hard reset of the wireless controller, then attempt pairing again.
