The VTech VT1301-2 is a DECT-compliant twin cordless phone system designed for clear communication and ease of use. It features internal calls between handsets, 3-way conference calling, a 20-name and number phonebook, caller ID display, and multiple ringer melodies.

Setup

1. Battery Installation and Charging

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset.
  2. Insert the supplied rechargeable batteries, observing the polarity markings (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.
  4. Place each handset onto its respective charging base. Ensure the "CHARGE" indicator (if present) illuminates, indicating proper charging.
  5. Allow the handsets to charge for at least 12-16 hours before initial use to ensure optimal battery performance.

2. Connecting the Base Unit

  1. Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the TEL LINE jack on the main charging base.
  2. Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to a telephone wall jack.
  3. Connect the small end of the power adapter to the POWER jack on the main charging base.
  4. Plug the large end of the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
  5. For the second charging base, connect its power adapter to the POWER jack and plug it into an electrical outlet. This base does not require a telephone line connection.

Important:

  • Use only the supplied power adapters and telephone line cord.
  • Do not connect the telephone line cord to the second charging base.
  • Position the base unit away from other electrical appliances for optimal performance.

Operating Instructions

  • MENU/OK: Accesses the menu, confirms selections.
  • TALK: Makes or answers a call, retrieves a call waiting call.
  • OFF: Ends a call, returns to idle mode.
  • MUTE/DELETE: Mutes the microphone during a call, deletes characters or entries.
  • REDIAL/CID: Displays the Caller ID list, redials the last number.
  • ▲/▼ (Navigation Keys): Scrolls through menus, adjusts volume.
  • Speakerphone Key: Toggles speakerphone on/off.
  • Numeric Keypad (0-9, *, #): Enters numbers and characters.
  • FLASH: Used for network services like call waiting.

Making and Answering Calls

  • To Make a Call:
    1. Press TALK or the Speakerphone Key.
    2. Dial the phone number.
    3. Press OFF to end the call.
  • To Answer a Call:
    1. When the phone rings, press TALK or the Speakerphone Key.
    2. Press OFF to end the call.

Internal Calls (Intercom)

You can make internal calls between the two handsets.

  1. From an idle handset, press the Intercom Key (often represented by a phone icon or specific menu option).
  2. The other handset will ring.
  3. To answer, the other handset user presses TALK.
  4. To end the intercom call, either handset user presses OFF.

Phonebook

The phonebook stores up to 20 names and numbers.

  • To Add an Entry:
    1. Press MENU/OK.
    2. Scroll to "PHONEBOOK" and press MENU/OK.
    3. Select "ADD NEW" and press MENU/OK.
    4. Enter the name using the keypad. Press MENU/OK.
    5. Enter the number. Press MENU/OK to save.
  • To Dial from Phonebook:
    1. Press MENU/OK.
    2. Scroll to "PHONEBOOK" and press MENU/OK.
    3. Scroll to the desired entry.
    4. Press TALK to dial.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Clean the phone and base unit with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use cleaning sprays or liquid cleaners.
  • Ensure the phone is unplugged from the wall outlet before cleaning.

Battery Care

  • Use only the supplied rechargeable batteries.
  • If the phone will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Dispose of old batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

Troubleshooting

Cannot make or receive calls.
