4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Getting Started
- Adjust Footrests: Place your feet on the footrests and adjust the straps to secure your feet firmly.
- Grip Handle: Grasp the handle with an overhand grip, ensuring your hands are evenly spaced.
- Seating Position: Sit on the seat, ensuring you are balanced and comfortable.
4.2 Resistance Adjustment
The RWX-AIR-Cross uses an air resistance system. The resistance level is adjusted by a damper setting on the side of the flywheel housing. Higher numbers indicate greater resistance.

4.3 Monitor Functions
The integrated LCD monitor displays key workout metrics. It is self-powered by an integrated generator and does not require external power.

Figure 4.2: The LCD digital monitor of the Toorx RWX-AIR-Cross, displaying various metrics such as time, distance, stroke rate, strokes, pulse, and watts.
The monitor typically displays the following data:
- Time: Duration of your workout.
- Distance: Total distance rowed.
- Stroke Rate: Strokes per minute (SPM).
- Strokes: Total number of strokes.
- Pulse/Heart Rate: (Requires compatible heart rate monitor, if applicable).
- Watts: Power output.
- Time/500M: Estimated time to complete 500 meters at current pace.
Use the buttons below the display (BACK, SELECT, ENTER/STOP, and arrow keys) to navigate menus, select programs, and start/stop your workout. Refer to the monitor's specific instructions for detailed operation.
4.4 Proper Rowing Technique
Effective rowing involves a sequence of movements: the catch, the drive, the finish, and the recovery. Focus on smooth, controlled movements rather than brute force.
- The Catch: Knees bent, shins vertical, arms extended forward, back straight, shoulders relaxed.
- The Drive: Push off with your legs, then swing your back, and finally pull with your arms.
- The Finish: Legs extended, back slightly reclined, handle pulled to your lower ribs.
- The Recovery: Extend arms, then pivot from hips, then bend knees to slide forward.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Toorx RWX-AIR-Cross rower.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the rower with a damp cloth after each use to remove sweat and dust. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Rail Cleaning: Periodically clean the monorail with a non-abrasive cloth to ensure smooth seat movement.
- Chain/Strap Lubrication: If your model uses a chain, lubricate it regularly with a small amount of chain oil (e.g., mineral oil). If it uses a strap, inspect for wear.
- Bolt Tightness: Check all bolts and fasteners periodically and tighten if necessary.
- Storage: When not in use, store the rower in a clean, dry environment. The RWX-AIR-Cross can be stored vertically to save space.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your rower.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Monitor not displaying data | Low or no power; loose cable connection. | Ensure the rower is being used to generate power. Check all cable connections to the monitor. |
| Seat not sliding smoothly | Dirt or debris on the monorail; worn seat rollers. | Clean the monorail thoroughly. Inspect seat rollers for damage; contact support if worn. |
| Unusual noise during operation | Loose bolts; foreign object in flywheel housing; chain/strap issue. | Check and tighten all bolts. Inspect flywheel housing for obstructions. Lubricate chain if applicable. |
| Resistance feels inconsistent | Damper setting not secure; air vents obstructed. | Ensure damper setting is firmly in place. Check for and remove any obstructions from the air vents. |
