Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the drive and keypad. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Battery Care: The internal lithium polymer battery is primarily for powering the keypad for PIN entry when not connected to a USB port. Ensure the drive is periodically connected to a powered USB port to maintain the battery charge.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the Apricorn official website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Physical Protection: The drive features a rugged exterior. Keep the protective cap on the USB connector when not in use to prevent damage.
Troubleshooting
- Drive Not Responding: If the keypad or LEDs are unresponsive, connect the drive to a powered USB port for at least 30 minutes to ensure the internal battery has sufficient charge.
- Incorrect PIN Entry: If you enter an incorrect PIN multiple times, the drive may temporarily lock or initiate a self-destruct sequence (if configured). Refer to the full manual for details on PIN retry limits and recovery options.
- Drive Not Recognized by Computer:
- Ensure the drive is properly unlocked (green LED).
- Try connecting to a different USB port or a different computer.
- Verify that your operating system's USB drivers are up to date.
- Slow Data Transfer: Ensure you are using a USB 3.0 or 3.1 compatible port for optimal transfer speeds. Older USB 2.0 ports will result in slower performance.
